Chinese politics is not a "black box", you just haven't done the bare minimum research. It's really not that difficult to find out about the post-Mao order, the factionalism, the New Zhijiang Army, the importance of regional governance, the influence of SEOs, the anti-corruption purges, Xi Jinping's recent constitutional reforms etc. Even just a couple of hours on Google will give you a fairly solid basis for understanding contemporary Chinese politics.
