I didn't learn anything about how Xi Jinping Became China’s Leader for Life from this video.

When a leader gets a cult following, that’s when he has to go. At that point, it’s no longer about how well he does his job. It’s ironic that he cracked down on celebrities, only to try and turn himself into one.

Article does not address it's core message. What was his early life like? How did he get started in politics? How and why did the Chinese Communist Party congeal around him, instead of someone else? All this video does is attempt to demonstrate that Xi is a dictator whose policies may not be 100% great for China, and that he has limited interest in human rights. Yes. We've known that for some time. If you were going to go that route, you might have mentioned the Uighurs, the crackdown on free speech in Hong Kong, or the continued use of 'reeducation through imprisonment' labor camps. Further, I couldn't help but feel amused by your adding a 'hope spot' at the end of the video, as if a single sign of protest on a single highway overpass is in any way a sign that Xi's grip on power is anything but absolute. Even saying 'well, it's a start' is laughable when compared to 'real' protests elsewhere: the riots in Iran, the George Floyd protests in America, Egypt's Tahrir Square..the list goes on and on. This wasn't anything, let alone something for the internet and apparently yourselves to bother commenting on.

This wasn't news, this didn't address your points, this was thinly veiled contempt for China's leadership. If you're going to run more of these pieces, at least make them substantive.

A drone flying over and broadcasting the message "Limit the soul's desire for freedom, don't open the window and sing", literally sounds like something out of a dystopian novel.

As a Chinese person I can clearly say that the younger generation is not nearly as fond of the chairman as most media would have you believe. For most people living in major cities like Shenzhen, most have access to VPN's and non-Chinese media (Which is how I've been able to watch youtube). In the past, Xi did significantly help the economy, but as the zero covid policy continues and Chinese economy starts to stagnate, public opinion of him is deteriorating. Combined with the issue of unemployment and the housing crisis, peoples trust in the gov has eroded a lot since his prime. I'm not surprised that there are still many avid supporters of Xi, but it's likely due to their access to other media platforms.

From a committee dictatorship of different factions (which broadly has the same goals but helps avoid crazy micromanagement... to a one man dictatorship - this is what many of my Chinese friends say to me

Really doubt it, Ding Xuexiang on the politburo standing committee is 60 years old, meaning he is the only one that can serve another few terms on the politburo standing committee, and also be the general secretary.

The "Bridge Man" is nowhere to be found. RIP and may his family be spared.

When the pandemic started, the helicopters came out in my city. They flew 24 hours a day for six or seven months. I remember thinking about how expensive it must be to do this. I only mention it here because the drone reference in this video reminded me of this.

So what if he so? Who are you to condemn him when their own citizens applaud him? Doesnt matter how long he stays as long as he is competent.

why its always intentional to get an Asian reporter to cover the news regarding China???? its not like all these Asian Reporters actually speak and understand the culture in China or Asian, they basically grow up in US and lost touch to the reality over here in Asia Every time I heard all those "Banana" speak mandarin hurt my brain, different things came out from their mouth from what it

Note: Banana is what we call this kind of Chinese lost touch with their origin over here in Singapore/Malaysia, Yellow on the outside but white all the way to the heart with little black spot (the thought of they being superior and no issue giving up their origin culture and yet pretend to understand it when it benefits them).

I wanted to learn how this one man beat everyone else in his party to become who he is today. Instead I heard how he has acted once in power. Video's title did not deliver.
