Is Strava Premium Worth it in 2023? | NEW FEATURES

Strava has made some pretty big changes to it's platform recently. With these changes not only effecting premium account holders, but also free members, the question of whether or not a Strava premium membership is worth it is more relevant than it's ever been. The changes affect everything from route-building to Strava Leaderboards, as well as the pricing structure for the service.

I have a look through what the differences are now between the two account types, and then give my thoughts and opinion on whther or not Strava premium is worth the money in 2020.

Will you be upgrading to premium? Are you already a premium user? I'd love to know your thoughts in the comments.

I feel there should be a paid "light" version. I just wanted to compare times to friends. Im just a casual mountain biker

I was upset at first, but then i realized if I'm not even in the top ten I have no shot at the segment. So, I'll just be a free guy.

I bought the subscription to thank Strava for giving me a platform to be accountable, motivate me to exercise and improved my overall well being. That in itself is priceless. Thanks STRAVA ♥️

My health and fitness are important, but not "$60 to analyze my segments and view leaderboards during an economic crisis" important. Taking away features from long-time users was a terrible move by Strava, showing that they have no common sense when it comes to business ethics. I bet they would have made a better decision had they listened to users and employees rather than execs and board members.

Can you connect a power meter to strava. Can it also show current speed instead of average speed

I have a question and wish if you can answer. I Have an I watch series 5 and i phone 11 max. Things I can do with a different app is, Able to use my phone like a bike computer to see my speed, elevation etc. and I the same time my watch is monitoring my heart rate and whatever other information I choose to have. Does the Strava application support the same thing? so I have tried and it seems it does not. What it looks like is that you can only use either or . Thank you in advance.

Nice review. I think I'll go premium now so I can see where other 68y.o.'s stand lol.

thought about paying but the garmin app has great analysis of runs and rides for me so since i’m not fussed about segments and can even plan routes on garmin then it’s not really worth the money

do both the cyclist and the contact have to pay the subscription to use the live beacon tracking?

I mainly use Strava to take the Pi55 out of others :D. I think I've been premium since 2013 or so and will keep it going, use the routing a lot especially in summer, I can see the benefit of telling those that don't subscribe that I'm above them in a leaderboard and they won't know its a lie :)

I'm using Stravistix (a Chrome extension), which is great, if you're on the free version. You might wanna check that out.

I struggle to do outdoor workouts now following an injury in lockdown.

I’m really disappointed in Stravas lack of functionality and acknowledgement of my gym workouts! It records them from my watch and puts them on the feed, but as far as my profile is concerned-if I want to look like I’ve done anything I need to be a runner/cyclist/swimmer.

Justice for indoor workouts!! Give me challenges and metrics that runners have!

I love Strava but it’s just not accommodating to the sort of training I’m doing unfortunately :(

Interesting. Alienating the people that provide you with data that is the foundation and the primary value of your business.

Hey man,
I never used it before. Is it worth it for a person has never used it before? I am a newbie to running planning on starting in the new year. I have been debating between this or NRC. What would you do? I have a Apple Watch.

No issue whatsoever with the subscription service, couple of energy bars a month? Good value I think. What I do wish they would get to grips with are the cheats. I'm tired of flagging segments that are simply not achievable on a standard bike. Most segments are worthless I know but these people really pi$$ me off...

Garmin Connect does have lot of functionality, but segments at Garmin are very tough to use, unfriendly, and no to such runner, bikers use them.Creating routes in Strava is simple genial. It has great routing, but Garmin not.So i get used to use Strava for creating my training routes. But i dont like, that when i would like to purchase Strava memebership, from mobile application its higher price, than when you go via web.
