WARNING! Strava increases prices! Have you checked?

Now Strava has responded to the questions around the price hike – but new cost remains unclear and will vary ‘depending on region and preferred platform’ apparently?!

To sum it all up from what I have seen... For some people, prices may double and for others, it’ll be nothing. Others still yet will split the difference on a wide-ranging scale in between those points. The determining factor? According to DC Rainmaker video description he says 'Theoretically, a combination of which country you’re in, when exactly you signed up, whether you’re on annual or monthly plans, and finally, exactly what today’s date is, relative to the date of your subscription renewal.' Bottom line - Check your Strava subscription people!

just checked mine whilst watching this video - mine's going up from £6.99 to £8.99 per month. only a small increase, but it's made me consider how much I actually use the extra features, and I've decided I don't use them enough to justify keeping it. so it's cancelled before I finished the video

Thanks for the heads up. I’ve just cancelled my renewal.

I tend to use Garmin connect more than Strava, Garmin works fine for me 👍

Never seen a company push their paid subscription model so much. I took their 25% off annual payment option last month to give it a go, the premium features are simply nice to haves

I was notified of increase, what you do is cancel it, then you can re apply using there sale price in the new year and get it with the discount rate so paid less than what they we’re charging.. always look for the offer 👍👍

Great video Chris. Need to check what I am paying

I pay, mainly for the route planning feature that it unlocks. For me, having the route planned ahead of a run is essential or I would probably just go around the block and then sack it off and go to the chippy.

When I began running in 1977 the best thing that you could use other than a hand held stopwatch or Timex watch with a second hand was a Casio digital watch which gave you your mile or km splits and average IF you were able to use it properly during and at the finish line. Now, using a cheap Garmin "watch" which gives me my vital info per mi/km AND acts as a music source, if I choose to try to use it, is all I need or REALLY NEED if I want to be that anal about my workouts. THINK OVERKILL PEOPLE!

I think I pay £8.99 now (need to check!). I had the free version until I used a free trial of the paid a few months back. I love the fitness progression feature that you get with paid and the intensity analysis. I briefly injured my ankle in August and I find when Strava tells me I’ve had an intense week that’s usually around the same time I’ve had a bit of a flare up! So super useful! However, thank you Fordy because I had no idea how much cheaper per year it was if you pay annually rather than monthly!!! Will definitely be switching that! Great video 🎉

I’ve been subscribing since 2018 and in my settings it says ‘Your annual membership will automatically renew on 7 December 2023 for £47.99’.
I do like the extra bits the subscription gives me, I’ve unsubscribed in the past and then resubscribed because I wanted them back. But good point re Garmin, definitely worth checking if that’s comparable.

I love staring at my stats. But recently been wondering if it was worth the annual fee with things getting tighter. I’ve now cancelled my subscription, due for renewal in August, cos I really can’t justify £54.99 for it. Partner was considering subscription, but not anymore!

I am in the US and buy it through my Apple ID. My price is going to renew at $79.99/yr and I can see this in my Apple ID subscriptions. Previously I paid $59.99/yr. I haven’t
received a communication about the price increase and only heard about the price increases from people like you bringing it to my attention.

Mine renewed on January 11th. Still $59, £50.77. No change from last year. Just the exchange rate difference.

I am weaning myself of Strava. I do see them eventually increasing their premiums year on year.

Hey Fordy, I'm with you.. I find the stats interesting but only to review. They don't influence my training plan. It's mostly doubling up on my Garmin stats anyway and when I twin the watch with the HRM, I get more from Garmin. I pretty much view Strava as the Facebook for runners/cyclists so I will not be renewing

Only found out mine has gone up to £8.99from seeing your video Fordy. Not a single email or anything from Strava!

I think Strava is absolutely brilliant with just the free version. I have it sync'd to my garmin app on my phone for auto uploads so don't even need to take my phone out on runs. But other than the duration, distance, km/mile splits and fun segment bits I don't really need anything else. I suppose the people paying for it keep it clean and ad free for us free users as if no-one was paying them it might be spammed with ads everywhere like some other free apps.
