I saw this airplane some years back at an air show in Oklahoma City. I looked it up and there's only one in existence. I can't tell you what year it was but it was a good long while ago. I went back and I googled it on the internet this thing went through Oklahoma City in 1990. I was 15 years old. Wow. And I'm wanting to say that I googled it not long ago and there was only one in existence.

There is still the possibility that it was the second, unfinished An-225, which was stored there since 1990

What a shame! Obviously no comparison to loss of life, but such a waste. So much needless destruction with war that accomplishes nothing but to satisfy a tyrannical manchilds ego.

There were things that ONLY that plane could do as far as cargo weight. Large industrial equipment, etc. Search for "Antonov 225 documentary". It shows this plane hauling something that no other plane in the world could have gotten off the ground

A sad day in aviation. We don't yet know the full extent, but to many aviators around the world it would feel like a loss.

I've heard about the destruction of the plane a few days ago, it was at the beginning of the invasion when they bombed military bases, where the antonov was stored.

That Plane was Soviet made and after the USSR collapse Ukrainians took away the credit of that. Engineers from Soviet Russia were hugely responsible in making that plane along with Ukrainians and Kazakhs.
