The Russians gave me a tour of theirs when I sought up in Newfoundland when I was in the Air Force. They wanted me to drink vodka with them on the plane on the ground. I told him I had to fly. They said so did they. Lol

Such a sad loss to what was an airworthy amazing piece of aviation history.

Boeing used that plane to move aircraft sub assemblies.

I wrote a term paper on that aircraft many years ago. So sad to see an aviation icon destroyed for no good reason.

RIP Petro Vasylovych Balabuyev

heartbreaking so see two brothers tear each other away....

That is not merely an aircraft. it is a monument in its own right for mankind to see, admire, delight in, marvel at, and enjoy for generations to come....

Our company loaded a 71 Ton Power Transformer onto an AN-124 at Pittsburgh Airport. These things are incredible. I was allowed to sit in the cockpit which is 3 stories off the runway! Very SAD that this was destroyed.

Sad indeed, maximum take off weight of 1.32 million pounds dwarfs the capacity of every other craft in service and all that have been. Another example of aeronautical engineering at the level of staggering. The North American XB70. Maximum take off weight of 542000 pounds, with a sustained airspeed capability of mach 2.57, maximum mach exceeded 3. The aircraft was developed in parallel with the SR71 and the SST. Two XB70 were built, AV1 and AV2. AV2 crashed during an unapproved photo opp.
An F104 piloted by test pilot Joe Walker approached the B 70's wingtip vortices and was swept across the aircraft severing the empennage verticals.
AV1 survives, not sure where now, but it was at Wright Patterson for many years.
The point made by this comment is to show how willing the control structure is to destroy achievement, in order to maintain its objective.
...Control at and all cost...

I fly the A380 and have seen the -225 operating around the Middle East and also Australia. It is an amazing machine and such a loss for what? 🤷‍♂️

If loading that one was anything like the 124 then good, all floor loading with no directional or omni rollers. Hopefully no one was hurt. Floor loading a cargo aircraft that size is just crazy.
