MD-11 birdstrike during takeoff

This Martinair Cargo MD-11 suffered a birdstrike shortly after liftoff on runway 36L, named "Polderbaan". As you can see the bird hit the plane over the cockpit and fell down onto the runway. The second bird didn't get hit by the plane, but was burnt by the jetblast.

I wonder what the bird strike was over. Pay? Working conditions? Health care? 401K? It's always hard to tell with birds.

not a very clean exhaust on this one, number 2 tail engine seemed particularly dirty, especially for a relatively modern aircraft

I think its time they install DEF tanks on these engines they were quick to do to our big trucks and hell my freightliner didn't take off with half the smoke this one did lol

I've been in the avian field now for 30yrs having both wild & exotic species experience. Whenever I see something like this is always breaks my heart. I realize there isn't anything that can be done but it's still painful to watch none the less. After all, if it wasn't for them we wouldn't be in the air AT ALL...(g)

It looked to me like a bird hit the front of the plane but nothing got sucked into the engine.

For all of you who are BLIND. The bird did not go into an engine. The bird hit the windshield and bounced off.

I don't care what they say about it but the DC 10 was a wonderful design
