Though the dc-10 had a troubled start, its safety record is comparable to planes like the 747, which also had cargo door issues. out of 32 crashes, only 2 were design flaws.

That is a McDonnell Douglas DC-10. It had issues, and badly-timed crashes on top of that, ruining its reputation. These days, flying on a commercial DC-10 flight is a rarity—and actually on my bucket list.
