She definitely didn't marry someone who was married and he had 2 of the kids already and the house was definitely not given from her parents

They're doing lower interest rates for poorer credit in some places.

Meaning if you take care of your finances and spend intelligently youre penalized, where those who arent as careful are rewarded.

Nuts.

Your ability to maintain the asset is also a problem just because your rent is the same does not mean the expenses are.

If they have proven they can get by on a higher cost of living than if they were paying the mortgage, let them borrow the money.

This is the result of banking regulations put in place in 2009 by Obama called the Dodd Frank Act. It was intended to punish banks after the 2008 banking failures, but instead punished consumers. Always consider the full ramifications of knee-jerk reactions based on vengeful policies. This law is also the reason housing has slowed to a snails pace, while demand skyrockets, and caused prices to drastically rise. Until this legislation is reversed, this will continue until only the very wealthy can afford homes, which ironically is exactly who the regulations were sold as the very people they wanted to punish.

There are definite problems w/the market today, but pretending Boomers had it so much easier isn't helpful either. My dad had been a chemical engineer working for a steel company for 6/8 yrs, was married, & 30 before they could buy their 1st house. And they scrimped & went without in order to pay extra on the mortgage to pay it off early. Until i was in HS, our vacations were visiting family for Thanksgiving & camping & eating out was an occasional trip to Mcdonald's or Ponderosa (a buffet style steak place). And my mother opened a bookstore when i was in kindergarten, so she worked & contributed income. They also went thru the depression, 3 major wars, & the 70's recession & has rationing. So stop blaming all your problems on the generations before you b/c you have some idealized notion of their lives.

9th graders are typically around 13-14 years old, right? So if we assume all three kids were in 9th grade (HS freshmen) when the person was 20, that implies they had them between 6 and 7…..Hopefully they were exaggerating (I know this is a skit but still)
