After 4 years of tutoring experience, when I try to apply for a teaching job: "So you've never ACTUALLY TAUGHT before? Like in a classroom?"

After five years of small-town journalism experience and a lifetime of talking and blogging (unpaid) about movies, when I try to apply for a job as even a freelance entertainment writer: "So you've never actually BEEN PAID to write about this exact subject matter before?"
