Ive always complained about my short shins and my mom told me it was physically impossible to have “short shins”. Thank you for validating me! 😂

OMG as a soft dramatic, I never understood why knee length dresses and skirts only looked good on me unless I wore heels until this video!! I totally would think I’m “following all the rules, ” getting a good SD wrap dress, following the rule of thirds, etc, but it just never sat right, even though it would look good on others. I even have one particular dress in mind that for all intents and purposes “checked all the boxes, ” for kibbe, for color analysis, for my day to day needs… but I ended up selling it bc I never felt my best in it, and now I know why! This is why I LOVE your channel…. Girl, I am so tired of boring videos that don’t tell me anything new 😂 but you’re not just “style 101, ” you’re “style 401!” This higher level of thinking is SO refreshing, and *actually* helpful! Keep ‘em coming 😊

This is the video I didn't know I needed! Thank you! At 5'4" with a short torso and long legs, slender limbs and curvy, the best way to for me to incorporate the rule of thirds was to wear knee length dresses, Bermuda shorts or capris that fall right below the knee. They really balance me out. Fashion police say these are out of style and make you look old. When I wear them, I get compliments in real life. I've had to go against the grain and often only find what works for me in thrift shops from years past. Short shorts look ridiculous on me. This video helps me put words to the feelings I've had about my body and style.❤

I’m 5’8” so people always say I have long legs. But I also found Bermuda shorts etc strange on me. Now I understand why, my shins are short compared to long thighs! Please also discuss tips for pear shapes. But not the “usual” tips, because they always show fuller women. I’m lean, tall, have a tiny waist but have big hips/butt. I’m a narrow small build overall except for hips which sometimes makes the styles I like look frumpy.

Thank you for breaking this down so succinctly. I have unsubscribed to some fashion youtubers, because I feel like I have outgrown their content and it's like yeah these tips every one gives. Your content is really helping me, develop my own style - instead of just buying someone else's.

Being overweight makes me not want to wear belts or draw any attention to my midsection even though I know the outfit would look better styled with waist emphasis. I really enjoy how you explain things and the pictures you show are clearly make your point. I think I may be a soft dramatic and that may be the reason very casual clothes have always looked sloppy on me whereas they looked cute on my friends. Even at 67 I still want to look nice and appropriate when out and about. Thanks for your help!

That’s the most detailed and helpful explanation I’ve heard of the rule of thirds. Thank you for the effort you put into your research and presentation of the info!

I’ve been struggling with this recently. If I tuck my top, my waistband basically comes up to my boobs (short-waisted and large-chested). If I don’t tuck, I end up being cut in half and I look dumpy. I’m starting to think I’m not built for separates!

You know who else favors full-length dresses and miniskirts, but never knee-length or midi? Kate Moss, because she has bow legs and she intuitively knows that the best hemlines are the ones that either cover her shins completely or stop at the upper thigh. I follow the same strategy because I'm bowlegged too. And my shins are ridiculously short, unlike hers.

I think this is the missing key! I put things together but this shows how styling with intent really makes a difference!

Having the importance of shin length and knee level within the length of the leg explained is a revelation! THANK YOU!!! 🙏🏽💖

I think I’m a soft classic and definitely have short shins. This explains to me why I prefer nude heels with dresses hitting at the knee and prefer to match my shoes to my pants. I’m elongating my lower third even though my ID doesn’t place emphasis on it.

VERY helpful! I have no ankles (cankles) and short shins. So, with my long thighs and torso it's a real challenge for me vertically. Especially as I'm older and can't wear shorts above the knees due to extreme weight gains and losses. I also can't wear heels where I live due to very rough and unevenly sized cobblestones and no sidewalks! I just have to try to bring eyes up above the waist!
