Welcome back to the Sacred Forest devlog series! In this episode, I’ll be diving into the latest updates and enhancements I’ve been working on for my open-world action-adventure game, Sacred Forest.
What’s New in Sacred Forest:
🔸 Visual Overhaul: Discover the new look and feel of Sacred Forest with updated tonemapping and camera settings, making the game more vibrant and cinematic.
🔸 New Models and Assets: Check out the fresh additions to the game, including various trees, foliage, and materials that bring the forest to life.
🔸 Improved Model Import Workflow: Learn how I streamline the process of getting assets from Blender into Godot using the Spatial Gardener plugin for efficient level design.
🔸 Character Animations: See the new walk animations for our pixel art heroine, Cerulia, and other NPCs to enhance the game’s immersion.
🔸 Dynamic Animation Rendering: Discover how I tackle the challenge of 2D sprites in a 3D world by changing character animations based on camera orientation.
🔸 Flag System: Explore the flag system I implemented to track player progress and control the dynamic world changes.
🔸 Conditional Spawner: See how I use the Conditional Spawner node to manage the game’s environment based on player actions.
🔸 Dialogic Plugin: Find out why I chose the Dialogic plugin for Sacred Forest’s dialogue system and how it helps create engaging interactions.
🔸 Interaction System: Learn about the interaction system that enables seamless dialogue, item pickups, and more, all with support for major controller glyphs.
I’m excited to share these updates with you and hear your thoughts on the progress! Don’t forget to wishlist Sacred Forest on Steam and join our Discord community for more behind-the-scenes content and discussions.
