Dysmenorrhea—What You Should Know About Diagnosis and Treatment

Показать описание
Dysmenorrhea, or chronic menstrual pain, is the most common gynecological pain condition, affecting from 45% to 95% of menstruating women. But because it is commonly considered a normal aspect of the menstrual cycle, it is often undertreated. Dr. Lamvu considers the consequences of this misperception, and offers guidance on better evaluation and treatment.

the only method for me to get rid of it is to go through the painful ritual on the first day
-vomit
-shit loads
-cramps
-cold sweats
-dizzy
-chills
after 1 hour of pain its gone and i repeat every month i hate this

I have had the worst periods since I was about 13-14 years old. I got my first period at age 11 and now that I’m 30 and still dealing with this I just can’t handle it anymore. Seems like it just gets worse and worse. It’s debilitating every time! Cramps like knives, back aches, throbbing weak legs, feet swelling and throbbing, nausea, diarrhea, brain fog, and severe emotions and mood swings. Soon I will be able to go to a doctor and try to get help. Nothing works for me either. I can’t take 8 ibuprofens and nothing g or 6 Tylenol’s and still nothing it doesn’t even dull the pain. Hopefully I can find a doctor that is knowledgeable and understanding to get the help I need. And hopefully people can start being more knowledgeable and understanding to start giving the help we all need! This day and age and they are still trying to suppress us!

The symptoms are so unbearable it makes you want to die. Been dealing with it for almost 17 years now. I remember going to the doctor several times and they dismissed it as if it was a normal thing to go through 😰🥺

I'm crying right now. You have perfectly described my cycles and my symptoms. I thought until know I was just a wuss when it came to pain but now I know it's not.

I was at work all of a sudden it got real hot, I'm bending over clocking out, dizzy walking to the break room. Pulled the trash can closer. Breathing getting heavier. Felt like I was about to pass out.

I used to pass out from the pain every month and the only thing that would relieve it would be an injection, sometimes two. It’s honestly become better with time and only occurs maybe once a year. I’ve found that a good diet and exercise really go a long way. Alternating between a hot and cold compress has really helped during the pain too. When women complain about regular period pain it baffles me, not to undermine any women’s suffering - but people find it hard to take my pain seriously because they generalise it! Thanks for the video!

Suffered with Dysmenorhea for 14 years, it has been difficult and a constant struggle. No one seems to understand, they think its normal or we are lead to believe its the norm. I've visited my GP and been referred to hopitals to see gynacologists for scans etc. None of it has been helpful, they only advise to take contraceptives which is only masking the pain not dealing with the actual problem.

The fact that people don’t talk about it, the fact that people keep telling its normal and i just have to bare its that for me

i’ve suffered with unbearable periods since the age of 13😪 and i’ve only just been diagnosed with primary dysmenorrhea at 25 after undergoing an exploratory laparoscopy and internal ultrasounds. it’s so frustrating there isn’t more help or information out there about it, it’s so hard to get answers and i really hope young girls get the help sooner that they need so don’t have to endure the pain that i’ve been through 😭, although i’m not completely pain free now at least i’ve found a mini pill that definitely helps and i can actually life my life now without stopping everything because of my periods

Thank you for posting this! I’ve suffered this a long time and people always think I’m being dramatic and that it’s normal the suggest I’ll need pills to take. It affects me with what I do everyday. Wish people could understand the pain we suffer.

Does anybody else have extreme pain in their legs, like it's so bad you legit want to get them amputated?

Finally! I have been dealing with this pain since I was 13 years old. Twelve years later I now know that this is not normal and thankfully not only do I understand what dysmenorrhea is but I can now be able to treat it.

This was very interesting to watch and listen to. I suppose I would be a secondary sufferer because i went through a long period of having little to absolutely no cramps/pain. Then I ended up getting a cyst on my ovaries that ruptured and that was the start of my monthly pain. I can barely walk, i always look flushed according to others, there have been times i literally crawl to the bathroom and shower on the floor of my tub because standing up hurts too much. Went to the hospital and they made me feel absolutely ridiculous. They said “you’re going to feel some pain with your menstrual cycle” absolutely making it sound NORMAL or as if I’m not a 28 year old woman who has had enough periods to know normal “discomfort” from actual debilitating pain. Unfortunately while dysmenorrhea is very unknown and dismissed in the healthcare world, So is ENDOMETRIOSIS. Sometimes when women go to the hospital they will do all sorts of scans and label you having dysmenorrhea when it’s actually endometriosis. The only sure way to tell is through a surgery called laparoscopy. What I’ve been doing to help myself since i can’t seem to find help else where is to look up NATURAL remedies. I advise more women to do the same. Do not be victims to the healthcare worlds insolence. Wishing all women nothing but healing. ✨
