Let's not forget that young women are also sexualised more. Its not unreasonable to think young girls want to cut off the parts of them that receive unwanted attention.

Women's bodies are critiqued, criticized, sexualized, violated, and scrutinized at a way higher rate than men. Over years this can have a detrimental effect on how a young girl/ woman views their body and therefore creates this need to change how they are perceived. I hate it and i can't stand how engrained this is in our society.

As a trans guy, I grew up not liking myself in general. I grew up as a tom boy. I never saw anything on musically, or tic tok, or any other kind of social media. It was just something about me that never made me happy. Or ever satisfied with my own body. I was confused. Depressed. Unhappy. And I was constantly downsizing myself because of so. But I understood later on. I knew what I wanted. I wanted to be a boy. Yes it was difficult, cuz I was so worried of what everyone else was going to think. But I knew it was going to make ME happy. So I did. And I wasn't confused. Or depressed in fact I was happier then ever. So was everyone else around me. But I figured myself out.

I think the discomfort of being sexualized at a young age is getting misconstrued as body dismorphia.

I thought I wanted to be a boy when I was a kid bc I was s3xually abused and blamed my female form. I didn’t realize that until I healed from the abuse at age 24. Before then my aunt was pushing surgery and HRT on me. My parents would say NO and I thought they were closed minded but they saved me from soo much trouble in the future.

Being more emotional does not equal being more emotionally intelligent. Being more emotional means you feel things, being emotionally intelligent means you comprehend what you are feeling.

I also think the hypersexualization of women are a problem. When i was young, I grew boobs at 12. I was always hollared at by GROWN MEN in the street. I started wearing jackets EVEN in the summer. I hated my body. I hated myself. I hated feeling unsafe. I was just a little girl and I felt like if I cut them off, I wouldn't feel like this anymore. I think going through your period and hormonal issues. As well as having a new body and still feeling like a child really messes you up. When grown men treat you like a woman but you're in middle school. It makes you either embrace it or run away from it. Lots of women become lesbian or butch from being sexualized at a young age. I am a straight woman who has a young toddler and I love my body now but it took me a long time. I feel like people who are trans (not all) have come across these and have dealt with it in different ways. Hence why I feel trans isn't the way to be. Its a mental disorder. You feel happier because you felt it held you back but that isn't true. Its your mind holding you back. I hope I explained this well.

Things that can lead girls to mistakenly assume that they are trans:
1. If they get bodyshamed.
2. If the guys at school don't want to play football or basketball with them cause they only want to play with the boys and not with the girls.
3. If parents tell their daughters that they should do house chores that their brothers don't have to do because they're preparing girls to be "future wives"
4. If they are told to wear make up and dresses when they just don't want to express themselves that way.

My child has gender dysphoria and identifies as trans. I’ve kept her away from hormone treatment but now she’s almost 19 she will make her own decisions and I will love her regardless.

I have read somewhere of a girl's experience with sexual assault and her path to transitioning and eventual detransition. She was sexually assaulted by her stepdad which made her view her body as a "target" for male sex offenders and abusers and as a liability. She had difficulty interacting with boys as a young woman as she felt threatened that if she's "seen as a girl" they'll harass and rape her.
