QUESTION OF THE DAY👀 Who was the real villain of HSM2?? Troy, for constantly ditching his friends often to hang out with college 🏀 recruiters? His friends/Gabriella for being jealous and making him feel bad? Or Sharpay… Because Sharpay.

Narratively it’s supposed to be Sharpay but I think there are no villains . They are teenagers and if someone is offering me networking opportunities I’d take it

The first movie was more was all the students accepting themselves and each other that they could do more than just one talent. And then the second movie was Sharpay wanting Troy to herself. So she sneakily used her resources and little of her family to shower Troy with privileges, in a way where he didn’t see her true intentions until the climax as well as what he had become. Then the third was more so facing the future and whether everyone will still physically be together and if they will all support each other.

Honestly, I think Troy's friends were more the villain. This isn't the first time Troy has went for something that makes him happy and his friends were more worried about their high school basketball team. He's thinking of his future. Sure, he could've handled it better, but they also could've been more supportive.

Tbh troy was never in the wrong, his friends constantly put him down any time hed go and do something for his future. Cut to Gabriella who'd literally be like peace out im gone dont call or whatever till i decide to show up again and make you question every damn decision you ever made. Like yes troy shouldnt have ditched his friends and made time for them but the least they couldve done was support him instead of gaslight him into thinking what he was doing was so unbelievably wrong. Props to sharpay for getting him those gigs but she also went about to the wrong way

Troy's friends all sucked. His close friends and girlfriend would know that their friend who got them all jobs together like they wanted while they were all failing at finding jobs wouldn't be able to afford college unless he could get a scholarship. Decent friends would be upset but would understand he was doing what he had to do to get into college. He should have communicated better but they were overdramatic and had no regard for how hard it was for him and that he was trying to set up his future which none of them were all that concerned about for...some reason...meaning they either didnt care about college, had scholarships or financial support from family or some kind of financial aid, or they didn't mind taking out loans that they might be paying off for decades. Troy was totally in the right here. Got his friends all jobs, schmoozed relatively harmlessly to try to set up his future and they just all treated him horribly from day one

I used to think Troy was the bad guy but now thinking about it, the guy was just following his dreams. It was his friends and Gabriella that were holding him back and if they really liked him they would’ve helped him make those dreams come true. Gabriella just had to have her SuPeR aWeSomE SuMmER

It was so wrong of Troy to not even ask the Red Hawks if they wanted to play with his friends, he just straight up told them “that’s not how they roll” like boy bye you been playing with them for a whole day and now you think you’re better

the REAL villain was sharpay again. yes she was helping troy in the long run but she was doing it in a way that would alienate him from his friends and knew it would cause friction. even homeboy running the country club was only doing her bidding
