KEY FEATURE ON NEW CRUISE SHIP WILL NEVER OPEN.
When princess announced the the Sphere class cruise ship it talked about all the new features they will. have. from all new dining options to brand new entertainment venues. One big change was the new childrens play area. It would feature a brand new Rollerglide attraction as well as Princess's first ever ropes course. It was meant to attract more families and younger cruisers to the Princess Name. Well after six months and a very rocky launch of the Sun Princess it has been anounced that the Rollerglide and ropes course will never open to passengers.

Bigger is not better. Stick to what works!

I try to choose cruises when the children are in school nit on my cruise. I raised my children and dont need to listen to other peoples children.

Princess is starting to ease into the amusement park theme on the top deck. Good luck with that. I'll stick with the wonderful Grand Class ships and the wrap-around promenade.

Fell out with Princess after over 25 years when they forgot what a 'Promenade' deck is, with the Regal etc. Not able to walk around the complete ship in the fresh air after a meal or even use it to go quickly from the restaurant at the stern to the theatre without the crowds in bars, shops and narrow walkways to fight. And don't get me going about not being able to have a private meal for 2 in a booth on Wedding Anniversary in the Crown Grill, just an open plan factory canteen with a rock band playing directly across from the library... Crazy marine architects trying to out do each other... 🤔🤐🇬🇧

Not disappointing for me. Maybe Princess figured out who their customers are? One of the reasons I was reluctant to book a cruise on the new Sphere class is because they were trying to attract more kids. I love my grandchildren, but would pick a different cruise line if I’m taking them on a cruise.

Disaster? I’m actually pleased. Princess is not a young kid type of cruise line. One of the reasons we book Princess is because there are less children aboard.

BIGGER does not always Equal BETTER !!!!

As a loyal princess cruiser, we are happy that the kids playground is not going up. We are sick and tired that it seems that every cruise line caters to kids. We were very disappointed that Princess started the same trend with the Sun Princess. We will not cruise with Princess anymore if they insist on becoming a floating amusement park. Princess has always been an elegant but not stuffy cruise line. Even the decor of the Sun Princess is blah!

Not minding the larger kids area not being there. It looks so much like a Carnival ship area. If I wanted that, I would sail on Carnival.

Just proves that you just stick with what you’re good at !
Leave the resort ships to rcl and carnival

This is very sad. I love Princess, but they have made quite a few bad changes and updates in the past couple of years. I hope they will find a way back to be the Princess so many of us love.

I’m not sad about the amusement park portion of the Sun Princess not opening. Hopefully they can remodel that area for more of a Serenity type deck for adults. I love cruising Princess and don’t need or want the amusement park atmosphere. Leave that to carnival and Royal Caribbean ships for families with kids.

I have no travel degree but just maybe having children climbing ropes in choppy seas might not be the most safe thing. I'm thinking people leaning on glass hanging over open waters might not be as well. The thing that gets me is these companies spending millions before a thorough safety inspection or evaluation isn't smart. Seems like these companies have eliminated quality control to their detriment.

It may turn out bad for Princess, but for me personally I am not disappointed because the less kids the better for us older travelers. I don’t cruise for the amusement aspect . It must be worth it to them to not finish it. I do love Princess cruises though, my fav.

I am thrilled that Park 19 is not opening. Families have got many other cruise lines to choose. Leave Princess for the rest of us.

Take it down and turn it into a lounge area with bar and ice cream station. Forget all those fancy tricks and gadgets. Leave that for RCL. your doing great with what works for you....STCK WITH IT!!!

I am very old fashioned and believe cruises should be about rest, relaxation, and learning about ports of call. Swimming used to be great fun for kids. Now we have to stimulate them with amusement park rides or they think a cruise is a waste of time. Why can’t we have them appreciate the fact that many children never get the privilege. If you want to take them to an amusement park go to the multiple places on land or go on Disney. The more cruise lines add more for kids the less I will travel on them. Virgin cruise lines is looking better and better to me.

First drydock is going to be brutal: rip out all of Park 19, multiple restaurants changing location because their celebrity chefs didn't like what Princess had built...

I like the grandeur of cruising back in the day.

If one reads the many comments, I don’t think there is a major (or minor) disappointment for it not ever opening
