It can easily get confusing figuring out which TI-84 is the best value so I'd like to share my 6 years of graphing calculator knowledge to clarify which TI-84 Plus is right for high school and college students in the US. I review whether older or used calculators will last you 4+ years, or just break during an exam. I also compare each calculator so you know which is the best calculator for you! (11/30/21): Annoyingly, YouTube has removed the public dislike count. If you'd like to see the dislike count on this video, I suggest installing the 'Return YouTube Dislike' extension (Firefox, Chrome, Edge).

My Ti89 is still kicking, and I checked the date at the back, it's from 1999.
I have so many memories with that calculator, still use it from time to time.
Like 2 weeks ago, I simplified an equation with it. So cool!

I rock the nspire cx-ii cas as my main college calculator. But I always hold onto my 84+ CE (no Python) because I’m extremely comfortable programming and working on it from my years of using it in high school.

Thank you so much for this video.
The professor just said “ti-84” and looking at FB marketplace for a used one, I was quickly overwhelmed. Your video set me straight. On my way right now to pick up a ti-84 plus ce for $30

Man, I remember seeing you comment on one of my old videos when you had around 300 or 500 subscribers, and now you're at 1.55k subs and your video quality has skyrocketed! I'm now entering the calculator hobby and your videos are extremely helpful!

Great review. You covered the line up thoroughly and accurately. Just what someone who intends in buying is looking for.

My trusty TI-83 Plus, which I got in 2008, got me all the way through my Electrical Engineering undergrad. Though admittedly, it was a bit of a struggle. Def felt a bit inadequate when I was the only one in my class unable to do indefinite integration on his calculator.

All I’m saying for the ce plus is I got a used one for 45% full price ($54) and it works perfectly fine

As a cs student with a minor in math, I recently upgraded my TI84 plus silver edition to the TI84 ce plus. I don't really need the python edition, the TI84 ce plus is perfect for me! The white color looks clean and minimalistic. Having a backlight is so much better!

When you realize that the TI−84+ Silver Edition has the same storage as a Floppy Disc.

Excellent video, this is what I was looking for, now I need to decide if I prefer to buy a new one, or a used one.

You should do a video like this but with scientific calculators, I’m still deciding which one to get for high school.

TheLastMillennial: "The TI−84+ CE is currently receiving software updates with _no_ sign of being discontinued within the next few years."
Also TheLastMillennial: Don't upgrade to TI−84+ CE 5.3.1 nor 5.5!

I used a TI85 for my first degree - in those days, it was a game-changer. I used a TI89 thereafter and I still think it was the best calculator I've ever used. I have a TI-Nspire CX cas, but find it annoying slow because of the many button presses required to do things. TI89 still 'rocks' for me.

The real answer is that you REALLY NEED to get the HP prime calculator. You can’t possible know what your future calculator requirements will be so get the best available calculator at any given point in time and at this time it is the HP prime.

The black spots on the lcd can also be "screen rot" which DOES get worse over time!

I got a CSE at goodwill for $5, didn’t know the regular SE was faster! I have a regular 84 plus also from goodwill lol

I still use my nspire from 2013. It came with a keypad for the ti-84 so I basically had 2 calculators in one with a cool party trick.
