Try browning the meat before putting it in the slow cooker. Adds addional flavor to the dish. The Dutch Oven generally is more seasoned, because more of the liquid evaporates, concentrating the spices. There’s very little evaporation in the slow cooker, as long as you leave the lid on the whole cooking time.

I’m Texan and we had pot roast every Sunday. My mom has one of those old oval roasting pans and it went in with potatoes and carrots before we left for church at 10. It went in on a low temp and it would be ready when we got home. My nanny always came to church with us and she always brought dessert.

We eat it over mashed potatoes, rice and sometimes on a hoagie roll with provolone cheese. Very versatile. We also dump some of the pepper juice in the crockpot as well and a half jar of the peppers.

I haven’t heard of putting ranch seasoning or peppers with a pot roast. I loved my mom’s pot roast- cook the carrot and potato chunks with the meat so they get the flavor of the meat (seasoned meat). And our roasts are typically a fat slab that sometimes gets cut into big chunks so it will cook quicker. Now I want mom’s pot roast!

Leftovers make delicious burritos and yummy loaded nachos! Great sandwiches, too, as someone else noted. Enjoyed your video as always!

I've never tried a Mississippi pot roast like this, but regular pot roast is a favorite of mine. Mine is slow cooked, with the veggies (celery, baby carrots, onion, garlic, and new potatoes) added midway through the cook time. We always have a tall stack of bread on the table to go with it, corn on the cob, and plenty of room temperature butter for both.

Roast is best after it has rested in the fridge overnight. Leftovers are the best.

You can even freeze it and save it for later. Warm it in the oven for a quick dinner when you’re too tired to cook.

That looks great. I always sear the meat before placing it in the crockpot. But I may not need to.

I love the way you explain everything Ms. H. You rarely forget to think of anything while you are explaining, which I think is a talent (even if you forgot to add the water!). Bly! See you soon, happy weekend! oxoxoxo

Just like every meal you have, it was a solid 2! You can’t do better than that!

Growing up in New England, we had Yankee Pot Roast. No pepperonchinis, but carrots, celery and frequently potatoes (if not served aside mashed)

Beef broth (low sodium) or water for a little extra liquid, salt pepper (or a seasoning packet) and yes. Butter.

What's nice about a pot roast is the meat is affordable and with recipes on line, very edible and easy to make.
