It is not just because of titan killer. Although he observed the energy, his system was actually self destructing. Hence to prevent the overflow of energy, the system auto activated rage mode. He can use it anytime when he has medium energy. Like he always has stored some energy in order to fight for long term. Imagine if(I say if) titan clock man or drill man have rage mode 💀

It was either the "titan killer/ uttvm booster" or it was that uttvm realized counter titan didn't use it in their battle which meant that he didn't have it so he did not want to use it cus he knew that counter titan could've copied it and used it against them but utcm had to use his cus it was the only way for him to allow uttvm to live longer and byu more time for utcm (upgraded titan clockman to appear and finish him

Actually if I’m right the titan killer has some weird energy that hurts the titan due him absorbing it, he let go a huge amount of it but you can tell he’s damaged by it by the burns and him walking a bit weird to scientist and when shot again hurt him more

Its a higher energy usage state to not overload and die so in a sense he was forced to use the rage mode les he die and he was forced to use the rage mode whether he wants to or not
