Because blue is the color of the sky representing something high above the ground and Obi wan is the master of the high ground

Luke's use of a green lightsaber also makes sense, because his training by Yoda was focused more on connecting with the force than it was on improving his combat skills.

Who watched over Luke for almost 20 years? Yes, that is the definition of a Guardian.

Obi-wan main focus and talents were centered around is combat skills and being a guardian. Qui-Gon focus and talents were centered around understanding the deeper mysteries of the force. There is a clear different between the two classes of jedis.

This is probably the best discussion point as to why ObiWan is a Guardian that I have heard. Well done ^_^

I've never, ever heard ANYONE say or express that Obi-wan should be wielding a green saber. I've never EVER heard anyone try to classify him as a Consular. Obi-wan is the Guardian poster child of the Jedi Order.

Why didn’t obi wan use a green light saber

Me: because Ewan McGregor liked blue

It makes sense that Obi-Wan is a Guardian. Obi-Wan is a Jedi with average Force potential, so he compensates by training hard in martial arts; you don't need to be strong in the Force to be a great martial artist and he is the Jedi who becomes *the* master of Soresu.

The greatest thing about Obi-Wan's actors is that they deliver their emotions and humanity into the character, gracefully.

When I was young I used to think that blue was the color for padawans, and green was the color they got when they finally became a full-fledged Jedi knight. Eventually, upon full mastery, they would transcend the need for the lightsaber altogether, like I thought Yoda had before the prequels came out. I know that it's only my head-canon, but I still think I like it better

I find it impressive that he defeated General Grievous with a blaster. And defeated Darth maul twice.

When Anakin was talking about "aggressive negotiations" with Padme, that train of thought came from Obi-Wan. That alone should explain why both Obi-Wan and Anakin were guardians.

I always thought that those who wielded green sabers were more in tune with the force relying upon it more than seeking out combat. They could fight, but prefer to do it through the force. Blue sabers were more combat oriented preferring to use the force to enhance themselves in combat than to use the force to fight for them. That's why dooku vs Yoda started with the knowledge of the force and then went into skill with a lightsaber. And Obi-Wan and Anakin went with skill with a lightsaber against dooku and got wrecked with the knowledge of the force.

Obi-Wan Kenobi may have been nicknamed "The Negotiator" during The Clone Wars, due to his skills in negotiation, but I suspect that he was more of a guardian than a counselor and happened to be as skilled in negotiating with others as much as lightsaber combat

*“It was important for him to have a blue lightsaber instead of green so his Jedi ways of Trolling everyone would be more convincing.”*

Get the reference?😏

It's been shown in the past that Obi Wan had trouble when it came to learning new force abilities and even almost failed as a Padawan even before he was trained under Qui Gon, he's powerful now sure but it was a long hard fought road. But people forget that Obi Wan is THE Master of defensive combat, not a master, The Master. It's how he was able to contend with Darth Vader in Episode 3 and how he beat Grievous where hundreds of Jedi lost their life before him. As the video said, he is the closest there is to Jedi Guardian that the force will ever produce.

The clearest answer to this is his role as protector of Luke. When Maul came to Tatooine, Obi-Wan had no interest in negotiation.

Edit: And I also think he's more of a warrior than he's given credit for, at least during the Clone Wars. He tries to take an absence from normal duties to go after Maul and seeks out a fight on Florrum, resulting in the death of a fellow Jedi Master. And afterwards, he doesn't want to give up the fight.

Palpatine: "I think we have closure on this matter, Master Kenobi."

Kenobi: "I disagree, Chancellor. Everything we've learned from this is that the Sith are persistent. They will not die."

Even his fighting style of defensive screams 100% embodiment of a guardian. Guarding Anakin, guarding Leia and then guarding Luke.

We need a future series or movie on Qui-gon-jinn and obi-wan and there early years together, i truly dont know why this hasnt happened yet.

I believe that Obi Wan's lack of potential with the force is why he chose to be a guardian as his path of a consular would have been much more difficult.
