I have received SO many questions on how to cycle your fish tank and correctly test for the stages of the nitrogen cycle. It's finally time to show and tell!

You can find the products I used in this video below:

This was probably the best nitrogen cycle video I've seen. Very informative

i'm honestly so dense for never thinking about using my dropper/pipette to fill my test tubes to the 5ml water line... I've gotten pretty darn good at guessing by dunking the tubes into the tank but this could have saved me a ton a time with the past few aquariums I've cycled 😂
cycling is one of the most important things to learn about when it comes to fishkeeping, so thanks for making a video for the newer/upcoming hobbyists who don't know about it!

i would just like to say.. THANK YOU for making this way simple. after reading dozens of confusing articles that always said the same stuff without actually specifying this is so refreshing and helped me understand the entire thing so much more. i applaud you!

Good lesson Jaimie! Listen to her beginners. I wish I knew about the cycle when I started keeping fish. I went in blindly and the fish suffered! Live and learn

Cheers from Manila Philippines! Thank you for simplifying the cycle info. I just started my first 10 gallons aquarium. I got overwhelmed with Lot’s of complicated videos out there.

Looked everywhere and seen so many videos on the nitrogen cycle and how to cycle a tank for the past two weeks and this just fixed my problem. The other videos said “let me not complicate this for you” but they had my mind going everywhere. Thank you 🙏🏼

This is by far THE most helpful step by step I've seen so far. I will be sharing this for sure.

Okay but how often do we add fish food? Do we perform water changes while waiting for ammonia to appear? Can plant fertilizer to create ammonia instead? I need more info.. cant seem to find a video that offers a comprehensive step-by-step tutorial.

Thank you very much for the straight forward information, the easy to digest step by step process on what to look for was perfect.

Love your videos, I don't think it will be long until your channel explodes with thousands of new followers. Keep up the good work! 👏💪Out of interest, where do you keep all your tanks that you set up in your videos, are they set up temporarily or are they all still active tanks?

Actually by adding as much plant as possible to the tank combined with some rocks from a nearby river or pond is a much better idea to bring stability to the water. Also it is not a problem to bring two or three fish after two days of the aquarium set up for the so-called cycle to happen.

To continue the process of the nitrogen cycle, do have to add anything in the water to produce the beneficial bacteria? I am planning to start a 29 gallon tank with live plants; so should I just let the tank deal with the ammonia, or does something need to be added?

I am cycling my first tank ever, so this video was very helpful! I tried to follow what she said to do, but added API quick start (bottled beneficial bacteria) on the third day. I've been testing regularly, and it's only been one week, but today I tested for nitrates as well and what I found surprised me.
Ammonia - 0.25
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - between 5-10
Does this mean it's ready for fish? It's only been a week so I had my doubts. I did a little digging and I'm pretty sure API quick start does not have added nitrate. It just happened so fast that I'm not so sure. Should I wait another week before getting fish or snails?? Any tips would be appreciated!
