I'm nearing retirement, but leaning more to be seasonal tourist, meaning 6 months in Philippines and 6 months in US. Not planning in investing a property in the Philippines and maybe looking for a short term rental for a condo or townhouse. Manila is my preferred location and Baguio is my next choice.

Manila will always be my base. Best hospitals, hotels, restaurants, malls, supermarkets, entertainment, concerts, sporting events, internet and casinos in the country. Easy to get to Boracay or Palawan if I need a beach break. To people that say they can't relax in Manila because it's noisy have never stayed in a luxury condo on the 40th floor with great views in one of the major CBDs. Even when I'm at the pool I can barely hear the traffic below. What about crowded malls? Do your shopping from 10am to 3pm from Mon-Thur and you have the entire mall to yourself.

Thanks for sharing. My wife and I will be in Dumaguette for two weeks this coming October; we'll see what it has to offer. Although we have not entertained much the idea of retiring in the Philippines, this visit may somehow encourage us to rethink the future.

By the way, I enjoy your videos. You seem to have a lot of ideas on how to better one's financial condition.

I always say that if everyone thinks the way my father did, no one will be poor - you reminded me of him. Good luck to your channel, Salee.

Salee, I love the content. Keep it up. I will be moving to the Philippines soon and getting perspective from you and your channel is beneficial in allowing me the knowledge to make a successful move. As a physician, I always research everything before taking action and you are giving me a good perspective and insight on so many aspects of what I have to consider. Hopefully, by next year I will be over there and starting up my practice to live my best life as you are

I'm a retired expat in Manila. I've seen many channels like this. Glowing reviews with breathtaking imagery. Nonsense. Truth is, western living here is expensive. And province life lacks amenities. You can't have it both ways in the Philippines. So choose your lifestyle prior to choosing a place to live.

I’m attracted to the beautiful cool Tanay Highlands that has excellent water source, cheaper and less traffic congestion and less crowded than Tagaytay Highland where I can grow my organic garden and raise organic free ranging chicken. Tanay has similar natural topography like the inner Northern California with its mountains, lakes, rivers and waterfalls that I tremendously enjoy where I work and live. But Tanay is closer to the beaches than the inner Northern California . Other options: Sta Fe, Nueva Vizcaya(I love Citrus fruits), Lantapan, Bukidnon; Kapatagan, Davao and Porac Highland, Pampanga.

Tagaytay is getting congested, heavy traffic specially on the weekend and the jousing market is super expensive.

Baguio for me. Weather pinakagusto ko. Small city pero ok na din kasi madami naman pwede tambayan. Mura pa food.

My wife and I checked out Tagaytay and found the area too humid. It turns out the average humidity is nearly 80% all year. Tagaytay is also 55 km from the International Airport so it doesn't work that well for travel bugs like me. Lastly, Tagaytay is like Hua Hin in Thailand where it's very congested from Friday night to Sunday because of so many day and weekend trippers from Metro Manila.

My choice is Tiaong, Quezon.
Due to near in other provinces with beautiful tourist spots.
Such as beaches in Batangas. Also, near in mountains, like Mt. Banahaw.
The best thing is it about 2.5 hours drive to Manila, and it will be lessen once the TR4 ( an new expressway in the south ) open.

If you got money, you can go live anywhere. You do not have to stay in one place all the time. I plan to see the entire Philippines and live in each spot a little time to get to know it.

I've been to all those places but i like Sultan Kudarat. I like the Provincial setting. Gensan Airport is not too far away or i can also use Davao airport. Speaking of beaches, Sarangani /Glan areas have the most relaxing beaches. I retired to enjoy peace and solitude. Too many people and too much noise annoys me but i do enjoy visiting Cebu, Manila, Bagiuo, Palawan, Batangas and wherever i feel like.
