This is the Hirajoshi scale (Japanese pentatonic scale) used by Jason Becker. Nice lesson.

While dissonant, the in-scale Lydian Tritone is rather beautiful and emotional! Great Lesson!!!!

Nice job with this. I also use Lydian quite a bit, over V7, ii minor, and replacing m7b5 like Bm7b5 to E7 to Am, becomes F Lydian to E7 to Am. Thanks for posting.

You are the teacher who got all the different interesting scales drilled into my head, and that was just by watching your youtube videos. Thanks again for that.

Awesome lesson. I grew up playing guitar in the 80's and 90's. I am really into Progressive Metal. Guys like Aaron Marshall and Plini are just awesome. Since I've been following these videos, I feel my playing has just jumped up 3 levels.

Bro, this is great...I put the modes into a pentatonic format, and this one you have for lydian, is actually the second shape I use for the phrygian pentatonic...interesting

Great video on a Lydian scale! It would be awesome to hear some ideas on how to use it in different positions!

My teacher started me out with the minor scale and the modes, or as he called it the 5 block foundation. I started out at a young age in the 80’s. I wish I had the wealth of information beginner’s have today. I think I could have progressed much faster.

Thanks as always, my good man!

I only recently encountered minor scales missing 4/7 and majors missing 2/6, which is the reverse of how I learned pentatonic originally. It was nice to see this altered variation today.

(Better wording edit).
