I live near Colorado Springs, and work for a realtor. I have seen over the past 6 years the hot market to buying houses due to low interest rates. People would sell a house for the price they want and get it in a few days. Some houses sold in a few days. Well all property taxes are increasing fast due to the State of Colorado using "Market Approach" property tax assessment. This uses the price of a house and compares it to others and raises other people property taxes - even if they don't improve the property or lived there for decades. This also effects rents.

example, my house in 2014 was valued at $114, 00, now in 2024 $495, 000. Never improved the property - all due to other people financial status and buying homes and then comparing my house and raising my property taxes. This is state statutes. Still theft.

Co springs is a pretty grungy city. Massive numbers of homeless in what should be the nicest areas. Westside for example. Way overpriced as well.

It's getting more affordable as time passes. Hope it will be right for me to buy in due time.

The Springs is unbelievably overpriced and ridiculously expensive. I've looked in every zip code and thanks to the massive exodus of people from CA it's become unsustainable to live here. I'm hoping the market will soften soon!

Does salting on the roads rust out your car fast like it does up in the north east?

You're probably overpaying for Internet unless you have no other provider option. There are several fiber providers (Ting, Metronet, Quantum Fiber) that offer gig internet for $70-$80/month. Even if you don't have one of those as an option right now, Ting is rolling out to every address supported by Colorado Springs Utilities over the next 3 years, so you will almost certainly have them as an option soon.

It is absolutely impossible to live here! There is no one who can live here comfortably that makes under 90k a year. There's also nothing worth staying here. All the people came from CA and many others for marijuana. It has ruined this place, absolutely ruined it. If you are able to leave? Do so. We are.

DO NOT MOVE HERE, DO NOT, AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Why would anyone in their right mind advertise That living here is still affordable? Could it be to make it more unaffordable
