As mention, this is a traditional herb from Malaysia and typically in Malaysia, Tongkat Ali is advised for those experiencing low sex drive or weak libido, making it more suitable for older individuals. It’s not recommended for young people with healthy hormone levels due to its potent effectiveness as an herb. I am a local Malaysian, giving 2 cents of my advice, take it only when you need it.

Tong kat Ali is thought to lower SHBG and when you lower SHBG you end up with more androgens floating in the serum (blood stream) so that means, more free DHT and more free testosterone which may explain the hair loss.

SHBG traps hormones from binding to the receptor sites in tissues so less SHBG means there’s more free androgenic hormones floating around to be absorbed by body tissues

Lower levels of SHBG means more androgens
Higher levels of SHBG means more free estrogens

So finding the balance between the two is always the most important.

Re Hair loss: Any supplements to be taken ongoing this is the better approach - find the minimum effective dose, then try long-term supplementation.
1) Do the research to find out the recommended daily dose, but more importantly what the expected positive and/or negative symptoms are.
2) Experiment from low to high doses for a shortish period of time - say 1 month. Record dosage and symptoms positive and negative .
3) Take a break (cycle off) - say one month.
4) Start at a low dose and slowly ramp up to the minimum dose where you get the wanted effect already experienced..
5) Check monthly to see if the effects are still experienced.
Or some similar regime.

the irritation is the testosterone increase you get from the tongkat, and most people aren't used to having that competitive drive of high test. when i wake up in the morning after having a good few weeks of routine for hormone optimization, I feel like I'm ready to fight someone and I love it

I’ve been cycling on and off since I started taking tongkat Ali 8 months ago, once I finish the bottle I then don’t buy another bottle for 1-2 months. I still feel more energy then before taking it, but not as much as i did when I first started taking tongkat Ali. My workouts are better, my strength is increasing faster. I’ll start doing it that way that your doing it by taking a couple days off each week instead, I too noticed the same that I’ve been losing a lot of hairs but at first tongkat Ali was preventing the hair loss.

I think a lot of supplements for mens vitality have the worry of hair loss, but it's mostly placebo imo. Everyone loses hair everyday without noticing and when you start something new you start noticing things more because your worried about them, like people worry about gyno too. Hair is also super prone to stress so that could easily be a factor people are mistaking the supplements for. Yes if your prone to hair loss, supplements may increase your loss of hair. If you have a healthy head of hair can't see it having any effect your likely just over thinking it. Also remember most guys who workout are around the 18-25 range which is when most men have hairline maturation, which is normal not a sign of baldness.

I spent six months in Northern Thailand after my sixty-third birthday. I teamed up with a person who introduced me to a Thai herbalist with a small family shop beside a much larger Chinese herbalist. We purchased the raw dried herb from the Thai and had the Chinese grind and capsulize the herb into five hundred mg capsules. I practiced Gi Gong daily, did TRX high-intensity workouts, and went thrice a week to a Muay Thai gym. I felt the effects within an hour of taking it. I would use it five days a week for three to four weeks, stop for two or three weeks ...then repeat the process. I seemed to metabolize at a thirty to forty percent increase, and subcutaneous fat was targeted well. Sperm production increased markedly. It was quickly apparent that Tonkat Ali when used in this manner, could be used effectively for six months to a year at this level. I cycled off when returning home and continued feeling its effects for an additional six months.

Hey Pigmie, something that I've always wanted to do with my supplements (esp the herbal ones) that publish claims of purity and even "lab results" is verify them. before I start buying a brand I take the lab results they offer to the public and verify them with the lab itself, but what would be even BETTER is to buy it, then send it out to the lab for testing to verify they aren't slacking when they sell you the product vs when they send their own samples to lab.

Ive heard about this tolerance issue with quite a few different supplents. Ive heard that taking it everyday during the week, with weekends off also works really well.

Dude awesome video! I appreciate you sharing your experience. Its great seeing a video that is clear to understand and gets straight to the point. Ive been taking Tongkat for over a year now. For the most part ive been taking it steadily without any month long breaks. Within the 14 months, I would take a week off here and there. I have not been off it for longer than a 3 weeks since staring it. I take a 1020 mg capsule every morning. I also take maca root (800mg-1600mg a day). I haven't had any noticeable adverse effects. I cant say that ive seen an increase in hair loss. I noticed that my sex drive is higher and my workouts are more aggressive (in a good way) and I feel better mentally. Always important to do your own research on what you put in your body. Certain supplements react with our bodies differently. What works for one, may not work for the other. I look forward to checking out your other videos!

You are not supposed to take it non-stop, you need to cycle it. The proper cycle is debatable, some take it 2 weeks on/1 off, others 3 weeks on/1 off, some 4-5 days on/2-3 days off. I suggest you experiment with the cycles as it effects everyone differently.
