Anti aliasing currently cripples X-Plane, try turning that down

Towards your direct purchase of XP12 (non steam)

If you haven'y flown the Zibo before and only have flown the PMDG I can say for certain you are going to love it. To me there is a night and day difference between the flight modelling of the two addons and in takeoff and landing in particular I think it is fantastic. Both have their benefits of course and I'm not trying to do a direct competition between the two but I think the Zibo will really suprise you when you manage to get it working. To me the real benefit of xplane's flight modelling comes with the feeling of weight behind the controls. All the best!

I have respect for all sims however I'm so glad MSFS gives the more-casual community the option of just worrying about aircraft addons and not the mountain of addons and money that is required to bring X-Plane and P3D up to par.

Try the Toliss A320 lineup! See how you can compare it with the FBW A320 NEO or the Fenix A320

Your limiting feature is the processor. Both xplane 12 and MSFS are still mostly one core apps, but are both are working for a proper multi ore setup

I bought both Xplane 12 and MSFS a year ago when I started out. While I haven’t played Xplane 12, I’ve been aware of the praise the flight model has gotten for years now (there is a name for the theory the whole thing is based on for the programming that I can’t recall now). Both sims deserve our attention as simmers. Just like anything else, you don’t want one sim to have a monopoly in the industry as that stifles innovation. Thanks for the review!

I like x-plane…always have. That being said, the flight model doesn’t hold much importance for me on a desktop sim. Regardless of the flight model, it’s *always* going to be tougher than real life. You can’t feel the airplane, you have no spatial awareness and a severely reduced ability to react to the environment. It’s just a million times easier to control an airplane in real life so sim physics are kind of like “meh”. To me, the overall experience is the important part of a sim. Do I like the interface? Is it easy to add stuff on? Are the features intuitive? How’s the community surrounding the sim itself? That’s why I like infinite flight nowadays. Yeah, you can’t add stuff on but the community is top shelf, the learning curve is straightforward and the sim just *looks* nice. That’s all I really care about nowadays.

There are many planes to fly in xplane. I'd recommend taking a look in ToLiss A319/A320neo/A321neo, Colimata Concorde, I have forgotten the producer but there is a nice MD11F, Flight factor 757, 767, 777, A350 and probably many more. I have flown the Airbus and the Concorde both feel very nice.

Say what you want about the graphics, where Xplane shines is simulating physics.
After I started my flight training irl, it just clicked on me why this is the licensed sim for real aviation training.
I keep using MSFS for the eye candy and Fenix, but that's about it now.

Personally I prefer xplane due to that there are way more airliners, the flight physics are better, and all default airports are very detailed because of scenery gateway, so I dont need to buy scenery for every airport I fly to and I can do realistic routes. Default airports in mfs are simply broken, with floating jetways and other problems. Also the ground taxiing physics on mfs are very bad. Like taxiing on ice. Another thing that xplane gets right is when you release parking brake with engines on in the a320 your plane starts moving in idle thrust, thats not the case with the fenix.

I like the heavier presence in the flight model but in my opinion the plane drops far too quick and is extremely heavy in the flare. takes a LOT of backpressure to hold up even in trim. Find myself having to leave some power in there around 1200 RPM to get a smooth landing

If the budged allows, I highly recommend getting a force feedback yoke (from Brunner for example). Absolutely total game changer. You really feel the dynamics and "heavyness" of the aircraft like you mentioned in this video.
I have the Brunner yoke. It's a very high quality build. All steel and aluminum. So yes it's expansive, but it will probably last a few decades.

No, I'm not associated in any way with Brunner, just highly recommend it based on personal experience.
But I also believe that if more people had a FF yoke, other companies would be more inclined to follow suit and start creating FF controls instead of the old spring loaded stuff.
I think it's about time we flight simmers started pressuring companies like Thrustmaster for some FF stuff. Something that has been a basic thing in racing wheels for decades.

If you decide to buy, load up my 33EFTS from 1943 (download from the forum) and fly a Harvard in Caron, , Sask.
Takes you back to time and place.

Switched from MSFS to X-Plane12. 45fps with Active Sky XP12, Ortho4XP, Global Forest v2 and No highway lights. Looks same as MSFS with better WX (incl. WXRadar) and Flgihtmodel.

I have no Issues with Xplane 12 or Zibo. Follow install directions to a tee and you will be fine!😁 I would adjust graphics a little at a time. Flight algorythms are pretty good for most planes! I get good frames at medium settings.

Lots of graphics updates are on the way including clouds too with new vram system to heal performance near soon, the update is in private beta now, can't wait for it

I love handflying approaches in XP 12, although I am not a pilot it feels really good, no matter if it is a A321 or the Zibo

For MSFS comparison I suggest using the G1000 variant which does have all the latest tech made by MS/ASOBO such as CFD, Soft-Body Simulation, etc... while other variants doesn't.

I would recommend purchasing direct from X-Plane vs Steam. That way you can update XP direct and immediately without having to wait for Steam to upload an update. Just my thought. 😊
