This song came out when I was 18 and I've related to it ever since.

I've played it for each of my children on the day they turned 18. That was yesterday for my youngest!

I saw these guys one time. They opened for someone, and the singer said, "I'm glad we can entertain you while you find your seats."

I would always mock people who would post song lyrics and then say “this song is my life. “But now I get it. This song actually is my life

Yup... that was me at 25, born in 1959. I'm 62 now. Still rings true.

I believe this would be the Todd Rundgren produced version. 1st indy release is a bit cooler. And they made a video too. Lotta shots of downtown Toronto🇨🇦!

This is one of the best songs ever made/produced/recorded.
I remember buying the 7"vinyl back in 1990 and by owning it a girl and I became a couple.
We saw this Band at The Paddington RSL and they were f%cken' awesome, didn't want the gig to finish.

I was in a band when this song came out. Me and the bass player were watching this video one night. He said: "Man, all that brunette chick does is stand there and swing her arms." and I said: "That's all she HAS to do!". Those were the days.

This was the version that was played constantly on KXRX Seattle in late 1988. I was 21 and had just started my first "adult job" in an office building that September so it really hit a chord with me.

OMG, I had no idea that this existed! Love Junk is one of the greatest power pop children of Big Star, and one of Todd Rundgren's best production efforts.

Takes us back, way back.. for those who like em... the Lyrics:
Well, I don't hate my parents
I don't get drunk just to spite them
I got my own reasons to drink now
I think I'll call my dad up and invite him!
I can sleep in till noon any time I want
Though there's not many days that I do
Gotta get up and take on that world
When you're an adult, it's no cliche, it's the truth

'Cause I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I've got the problems of an adult
On my head and on my shoulders
I'm an adult now

I can't even look at young girls anymore
People will think I'm some kind of pervert
Adult sex is either boring or dirty
Young people, they can get away with murder
I don't write songs about girls anymore
I have to write songs about women
No more boy meets girl, boy loses girl
More like man tries to understand what the hell went wrong

'Cause I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I got the problems of an adult now
On my head and my libido
I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now

I can't take any more illicit drugs
I can't afford any artificial joy
I'd sure look like a fool dead in a ditch somewhere
With a mind full of chemicals
Like some cheese-eating high school boy

I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I've got the problems of an adult
On my head and on my shoulders
I'm an adult now

Sometimes my head hurts and sometimes my stomach hurts
And I guess that it won't be long
Before I'm sitting in a room with a bunch
Of people whose necks and backs are aching
Whose sight and hearing's failing
Who just can't seem to get it up
Speaking of hearing, I can't take too much loud music
I mean I like to play it, but I sure don't like the racket
Noise, but I can't hear anything
Just guitars screaming, screaming, screaming
Some guy screaming in a leather jacket
Whoaah!

I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I've got the problems of an adult
On my head and on my shoulders
I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I've got the problems of an adult
On my head and my libido
I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now
I'm an adult now

This song popped into my head, no idea why. Loved this song when I was a young teenager. Still rembered all the words.

The whole "Love Junk" album is so-so good, I was working at a record store when this first came out in 1989,
the whole CD was on heavy rotation and it was played at least 3 times a day, along with "Cosmic Thing" by The
B-52's. That was such an awesome time in my life, I was 27 at the time, great times.
