My mum is about to be 65. She hasn't touched her face. Yes you can tell she's not in her 20s anymore but she looks gorgeous. She still has skin elasticity, no wrinkles, she's never had acne or major skin problems. Sometimes we need to just wait and see how we look as we get older, so many people actually look better with wrinkles and jowls, aging can make you look kinder and warmer. Looking older is better than looking like an alien. We need to teach ourselves to accept and be ok with ourselves as we change otherwise we will waste our lives being miserable.

I'm 72 and have been wearing sunscreen since my early 30s. Sunscreen just wasn't a thing when I was a kid growing up at the beach so I had many burns. I'm seeing people young and older who've 'had work done' and it's just not a good look. Not every surgeon is a good surgeon so your one face can indeed be messed up. I'm often mistaken for being in my 50s. Sunscreen works kids, it really does. There's grace in accepting yourself. People notice bad work and it changes how people think about you ie: your reputation can suffer.

I'm in my mid 30s and I recently went to my doctor asking about a facelift and she was appalled that I would even ask. She told me I'm at least a decade away from possibly even needing one. So I loved her honesty and took it as a compliment.

My mama was absolutely gorgeous when she was young but she chose to age naturally and she looked her age (due to having very severe rheumatoid arthritis from breast implants in the 70s). When I asked her why she didn’t want a facelift or Botox she would get this satisfied look in her eye and say “Ehhh, I had a good run”. She was just grateful for the beauty that she had in her youth and she enjoyed it while she had it. Nowadays we are shallow, greedy and focus way too much on looks. We want things to last forever but they seldom do. Mom is in Heaven now but I’m glad she taught me to appreciate the blessings and gifts I have while I have them. No one looks hot and sexy at 70, nature just didn’t design things that way. 😂
Nothing here is meant to last forever.

I’m actually in the process of saving for my first face lift, I’m 40. Reason being I suffered severe emotional trauma this year, dropped a lot of weight in a quick period of time & it just generally has taken its toll on me & my face. I just want to feel good about me again & take care of myself so I can age in the best possible way. I think that if it makes you feel good & refreshed it can’t be that bad, providing you don’t go too far.

Thank you so much for saying that. I follow a doctor here on YouTube, he’s in California.. he’s popular for doing vertical restorative facelifts. He’s never once though mentioned anything about the maintenance.

This is how I feel about veneers 😓 praying the trend for perfection ends soon. I really don’t mind plastic surgery(/cosmetic dentistry) but the way people are setting themselves up for failure down the road (or literally after the work is done) is heartbreaking…

A steady skincare routine has done wonders for my face. And using sunscreen religiously, and including AHA's and BHA's and retinol at appropriate times is a plan for the future ✨

Thank you! I hate thinking of such young women having surgery when it’s really not necessary yet, if ever. I am in my early 40s now, and based on my female relatives, the jowls I’m just starting to get are going to just keep drooping, so I absolutely understand wanting a surgical “fix” at some point. If I can afford it, I’ll probably look more seriously at getting one in about a decade, maybe.

I think people forget that even minor surgery has so many potential risks! What if something does go wrong? I’ve had to have massive, medically-necessary surgeries (like a thoracic aneurysm repair that was at the “root” of the artery next to my heart.

I know a facelift, especially the “mini” ones, is a much different type of procedure, but there’s still so many risks. What if you get an infection?

I feel like people need to really weigh the risks of voluntary medical procedures, as well as the potential benefits. With prescription medications, as well. It’s usually worth the possible risks, but it’s important to understand what they are and how likely it is that they might happen.
