That pilot extra has been out of production for a while. I have the red, yellow, silver, and black 35%.
Anyway he probably paid $1495. For the airframe. $1699. For the DA 170. Plus the price of mufflers, because DA dont sell mufflers with their engines. You didn't name servo brand but im gonna say $1800 in servos. Plus $150 for the prop. I guessing close to $8000. If he built it recently.

Airspeed is life, altitude is life insurance. The good kind of insurance.

Got disoriented on the rudder control.
Everything fine and dandy until you get the belly toward you.

Before I saw the crash I was thinking like the plane it’s self is only a couple feet off the ground, if he had a way to just flip a switch and immediately kill the motor and ideally also stop the propeller completely, it would just fall on the ground with much less damage than most crashes. But it sounds like right before the crash he decided to gun it in hopes of getting out of it and that was what launched the plane so hard into the ground. Idk just a thought I had.

Rc planes are not that durable. They need to start making some out of plastic instead of foam or wood

Do you have any good recommendations for flying spots in Colorado?

It looks like a bunch of different types of C4 in there

Damn he’s good but I’d say airframe around 1, 5k and for that DA 170 I would think something like 1, 8. For the prop (I don’t know a lot of those big props) maybe 200
And all stuff between he ends up at probably 7, 5-11 k

I know everyone asks, but do you think one of those could carry a person and fly as an ultralight under FAR 103?

Im guessing the rudder was the problem

Is he also the one who tail dipped the plane in the pool?

Dang, i wish the pilot had discussed what je though went wrong. Looks like at the end he had rudder and elevator teying to save the plane, but not enough speed and control... $10k airplane, but to rebuild will need a new airframe and some replacement parts, not all lost

Saw someone fly their extra 300 into a tree on its maiden a few months back. Real nice fire started from all the lipo batteries and the gas. Cool $8000 down the drain in one flight

Why don't y'all purchase helicopters? "Airplanes" are named that for a reason...as are helicopters... I'll never understand this type of activity. Most pilots fly because of the sensation and scenery...gotta love IT.
