The whole system is flawed! Homeschooling my 2nd grader for the first time this year. Wish us luck!

I have decided to homeschool my kids because schools are not a safe place. I have worked in several locations and all of them have several weak points where if someone wanted to enter the campus and hurt the staff and students they easily can. We are all sitting ducks.

Until they allow staff to carry I will not work at a school again and I will not allow my kids to go to school. Teachers should have the right to protect themselves against those who wish to do harm. I worked at the front desk and had no way to protect myself or my students if someone wanted to hurt us. I would have to look around the room for any sort of heavy object I could possibly throw at a criminal if needed.

Until they start to protect our kids better I will be protecting my kids at home.

My son learned to read by himself and I don’t know how. I homeschool also. And I’m a bedridden mom.
Good for you mama 🙏🏼💎

Mama bear on point. I remember when my teacher intimdated me when I was younger, even though I knew deep down what the answer was, I couldnt make the words out and just kept quiet. Teachers could be the worst influence for kids tbh

This, this is why I left the school system! I couldn’t stand by how staff was acting and the school system. It’s unfair to kids and they are truly tearing them down slowly and making them lose their individuality.

I agree. My son absolutely hates writing the work down. He is a human calculator and teachers didn't like that either. I pulled him out of school to.

They wanted to fail him because he's blessed with that gift

Amen! I spent many a lunch with my kids watching the teachers on duty telling them all to stop talking and hurry and eat. They wanted to give spanking to my KINDERGARTEN son...for talking to his classmates at his table. Um no you aren't, these are small children and not robots!

I hated school with a burning passion, socially educationally, etc. It was so physically and emotionally draining and exhausting. I was at school for longer than I was at home, and I couldn’t stand that. Homework was awful and cramming it all those hours didn’t help me to remember anything. Now when I look back to when I was in school, all I can remember was how miserable I was. When I have kids, and if I can afford it, I’m homeschooling them. I don’t want them to have my waste childhood.

I wanna be homeschooled bc literally school gives me so much anxiety that I just wanna die. I want to tell my mum but I’m too scared to 😭

Yep. The school staff bullies the students, and the parents which is why I pulled my fifteen year old daughter out of school and she is so much happier doing homeschool.

Great job mom. Homeschooling is amazing ❤I took my daughter out because of bullies and adults that encourage it. She literally lost her 2 front permanent teeth. When I saw the depression and withdrawal it was time to take action

Same here, except I put my daughter in a Christian Montessori school … but same exact reasons. The teachers were bullying the kids, way too much yelling, and unnecessary /excessive silent lunch. I am 100% with you. And they punish the inquisitive kids by saying they have bad conduct for asking too many questions. Getting punished for being smart? Not right.

My kids are all grown. We homeschooled when it was still weird😄. Worked very well for us though I admit there were some days I wanted to flag down a yellow bus 😄. All are fantastic adults, most married with kids, doing what they love.

I am glad you pulled him out. It sounds like an environment where his loving of learning would have been sucked out of him. Some public schools suck the life out of kids. Good job Mama!

I remember this happening to me. My teacher pulled me aside (and it was so embarrassing) and asked me how I solved a problem in algebra. And I was like idk it just make sense and I know the answer. (I was shy) She said I need to show my work and accused me of cheating I front of everyone. I really did just know the answer, and I didn’t cheat. Years later, a biochemistry degree under my belt, I realize I just intuitively get math. Why spend 20 minutes on a problem when you can spend 2? Public school is not designed for outliers. It holds back the gifted and and doesn’t lift up
Strugglers. It really only suits those who are good at memorizing 😅

I missed my junior prom bc a teacher failed me in math bc I didn’t explain how I got the right answers on multiple worksheets and one test. They accused me of cheating…. They wouldn’t sit with me and watch me do math problems privately to prove I didn’t cheat until after prom…. Btw prom was on my birthday and my mom, who had to make multiple payments on my dress at JC Pennies at the time, had already bought my dress and shoes, paid for my hair appointment and my best friend gifted me a mani-peti for the big day. That was 2003. It’s so unfortunate that things like that stick with people. Bullies are bullies, regardless of their age.

I'm so excited to start homeschooling mine! This was so spot on! I can't wait to ditch it all and work on rebuilding their self-esteem and happiness! The other day my child yelled stop to another classmate because they wouldn't stop picking on them. A teacher literally told my child that they were not allowed to do that. My child said, "so I'm not allowed to defend myself". The teacher literally said, "no, you tell a teacher" 😑😑😑😑
