Ok the vid is actually promotion for Kemper.
The reason why I (and I believe quite a few others) re-sold my Kemper after 6 months that, no matter how clever and well- made, it gives you the sound of a mic’d amp, and not of an actual amp. The dynamics are clearly missing, even at very low volume, as compared to a real amp. From then on, it is a matter of what you want to use it for.

All true my friend....the Kemper is the greatest invention ever IMHO. I could not be happier with my Kemper...sold all my pedals to and they were excellent pedals by strymon.

I see what you did there^^

I'm part of a club/society/association (all sounds to big and important to what it really is) about guitars, amps and the sound thereof. I went to my first meeting and there is a mixture of studio muscians, people writing for guitar magazines, people building studios, former electrical engineers, professors, audio professionals sharing knowledge and there is me taking notes, knowing freaking nothing and my playing is like i couldn't hold a spoon. Maybe half of them are playing through old fenders or VOX and the other half are using kempers (especially those who brush off amp and effect building like nothing.
The more people know about how amps work and all their intestines, the more they can grasp the potential of this thing. They construct the wiring and really rebuild other amps and hone them down bit by bit and it sounds brilliant with the Kemper. Most of what it did to me was that i want to play better and have better understanding of my amp (Hughes&Kettner Grandmeister36) which i really like.
Maybe one day I'll buy a Kemper too.

Ok.. I am not going to bash the Kemper or argue the facts of what is best or better. What I will say is that from playing through many great amps for years, your senses of touch and tone become really fine tuned. I have been playing through a Diaz CD100 and a Soldano for years with some very nice boutique pedals. I gave the Kemper a try, yes technology has come a long ways. But part of the idea of finding your sound is by physically creating your tone. Not by sampling the sound from what you worked hard to create, or someone had. A tube amp can react different every night and just the fact of different tubes and power can reflect tone. These are things that make playing fun. The fact of how you run your pedals. hook them up. If you have ground issues or buzzing problems. Fix them!!! Gigging out, there is nothing better than to be able to tweak an effect or tone by quickly grabbing a knob and twist to what you desire at that moment. Especially in the middle of a song or mood. Pushing a bunch of buttons and menus to get somewhere is clumsy in a live setting. I personally don't run in ear monitors... my amp is behind me. I hear my sound from my amp. If I wanna mess around with tone.. the idea of swapping tubes and values is all part of the tone quest of the holy grail. Different cables... size, lengths, gold tips etc. All parts of the tweak. Again, I am not dissing what they have created, but please don't try to tell me that I can't tell the difference. I'm not sure how boutique amp builders would be doing so well and sought after if these modelers were so genuine. It's expensive, I know, but yes there is a difference. Peace to all, this wasn't meant to start any wars. It's just stating from over 20 yrs of tone tweaking and performing.

well done I have had nothing but problem with tube amps

What happens when it blows up? Comes apart/falls apart if its dropped? Thing that's nice about older amps is, your tech is able to rebuild them and cheap if it goes down.

Oh man for a second I thought you had serious issues with it, had me laughing the whole video!! I really hate the reliability of it, consistency sucks! :/

I guess my question would be... why would I choose the Kemper over the line 6 helix? Better yet, why did you choose the Kemper over the Helix? From my understanding the helix offers the same quality of tones but at a fraction of the cost. I'm trying to decide on which one to get - I mostly play clean tones (neck) Jazz, funk, & R&B.

Is there anywhere you can demo these? I'd have a hard time dropping serious cash on something I can't play and hear in person.

Hope someone is willing to sell Kemper for cheap after this video. I'm buying!

I love the sarcasm! Consider me convinced!

This is sarcastic and all but honestly I've had the kemper for 6 months now and I still haven't been able to dial in an overdrive sound that I'm stoked on. It still has that digital high end that sounds like I'm playing through a DAW amp simulation. Can you provide some settings on overdrive eq/profiles?

You're a bloody amp loving tube head. These 4 reasons are exactly why I wouldn't by a Kemper. So thank you. Ok, Kidding, . Love your video I wasn't expecting your twist. I just bought a kemper and came here thinking I better hear this. LOL, Great Video Dylan!

I don’t want that versatility. Just the 6 amps on my THR10 gives me options-paralysis. I’d prefer just 2 - good clean and good dirty. I don’t want to spend energy agonizing over all those sonic options from my device. I’d rather spend my energy working on the sonic options from my fingers.
