1> my dad bought a cake
2> My dad has bought a cake.
Every video says difference but why and when to use the 1 or the 2 sentences. Can anyone explain this? Can I use either of them or is there any other reason to use the participle form in the past?

I've a question for you. We often hear the expression "to be woke" nowadays and we are told "woke" is the past participle of "wake". I don't understand, I have always been told that the past participle of "wake" is "woken" or "waked" (archaic use). Isn't "woke" the simple past of "wake"? Thank you for any explanation.

I forgot to prepare a greeting card to her. :- Simple past tense.
I had forgotten to prepare a greeting card to her. :- Past participle.
Is it right?
