In this Euro Football Daily Explained we heading to the east coast of Spain to find out what on earth is going on at Valencia. The situation at the Mestalla has turned toxic with Los Che languishing in the relegation zone. With their status in La Liga under threat for the first time in almost 40 years, the fans have turned on their distant owner, Peter Lim, who many think has run the club into the ground since arriving on the scene in 2014. Managers have come and gone at a ferocious pace, their best players continue to be sold with little investment in return, while the Nou Mestalla remains as a concrete shell over 15 years from the start of its construction.

But is Peter Lim to blame? And what’s happened on the pitch this season that has caused Valencia to hit a new low? Watch on to find out.

As a Valencia fan the first red flag for me was the Neville appointment. But the final nail in the coffin was letting our best midfielder and captain Parejo leave to our cross city competitors for FREE. He had no desire to leave either. He loved the club

Valencia before Lim had financial troubles due to the global recession and forced to sell Mata, Villa and Silva. Since Lim took over it has gotten so bad that the new stadium when completed it will be slightly bigger than the old stadium instead of having 75k seats and they sold their key players on a loss and signed dross. As bad the Glazers are, Peter Lim takes the cake for the worst owner in football.

I'm a Barcelona fan and it's just unbelievable for me to accept that clubs like Valencia and Sevilla are fighting to stay away from the Relegation Zone.

All started with the sacking of Marcelino in 2019

Feel bad for fans and most importantly Jose gaya. Man has easily been one of the best wingbacks in the world but never ever gets the credit once. And the thing is Valencia is still a attractive investment. Someone from Saudi Arabia with shitloads of money can easily save em with proper recruitment team

Feel sorry for die hard Valencia fans as a Singaporean I still don't understand why he need to own a european club if he not willing to invest or engage with Spainish fanbase

The Mestalla issue has been destroying the club for almost 20 years... Remember Valencia was playing CL final back then.

I would love an explained video on Hoffenheim! Going from a fun attacking side under Nagelsmann to bottom of the Bundesliga right now.

I was lucky enough to visit Valencia during Fallas back in 2003, and I was (and still am) a Valencia fan. But it's been mostly downhill after 2003-2004.

Early 2000's, what a side they had with Aimar and Mendieta. One of my favourite Spanish teams ever along with Deportivo La Coruna and Real Madrid from the same era.

As a Singaporean football fan, i'm dissapointed in the way in which he is running the club. It would be to everyone's best interest if he sells it and come home. Hopefully buy a local club here in the Singapore Premier League.
