How to show or restore the Microsoft Word Ribbon or Toolbar

Since Microsoft started using the Ribbon format to replace menus and toolbars starting with version 2007, many computer users accidentally lose or hide that ribbon. it didn't work--there is no "minmize robbon" option when I do the drop down

Ok so I had to compare 2 versions of the same document and Voila...on th eupper right hand side was another drop down and I unchecked the minimize ribbon tab.
