on my way home from first long drive in the big block Camaro Blipped the throttle spun the tires a bit and the motor died due to lack of fuel. the outside temp was about 95 deg still and it had been over a hundred. I think the motor heat soaked a little while it was parked and just over heated the fuel lines

Yea, I just confirmed mine too with a video camera. I could see the fuel level dropping in the filter until empty. I'm gonna try fuel line wrap. It's funny, back in the 70's and 80's we drove these cars everywhere, every DAY and never had vapor lock. It must be the crappy gas now.

I'm a ford guy but that's one sweet sounding Camaro.

That's a beautiful car. Glad she is running good now. My favorite year of Camaro is the 69.

glad she's running good now.  though I wish you didn't have to switch over to EFI.  nothing beats keeping it classic in an old car like that with a carb.

What causes this? A mechanical fuel pump with heat and modern fuel? Sounds to me like an engine running out of gas.

fuel now is so volitile it will boil at 120 degrees. you have to run a return line and circulate the gas to cool it. Thats about 500 bucks for the pump, regulator, line and fittings

Vapor lock was confirmed. Under hood temps were so high, fuel was percolating out of the vent tubes. Just had the car switched to Fast 2.0 efi and its AWESOME !!

I have a bad case of vapor lock in my dodge 440 rv, no doubt it's vapor lock, still trying to figure out the best way of solving that problem on the cheap. What a pain .

Ive done three cars with EFI now and all have had some glitches to a varying degree. Overall Im happy, but not thrilled with the amount of tinkering it takes to keep them going. FAST 2.0 efi is susceptible to any electrical glitches, i.e.. weak ground, low voltage etc.

Did you confirm this was vapor lock? My car is stalling out by itself. Once it cools, it starts right up. Trying to figure out if it's the same problem. It's 95 in pasadena too.
