Great breakdown, thank you! I'd also really caution any student who is thinking to get a beefier ipad instead of a full-range computer/laptop. A lot of the virtual test-taking softwares like ProctorU don't work on mobile systems like iOS or even some Chromebooks, and if pandemic crises shut down campuses again, students could find themselves without access to any public computer labs or shared laptop options. I saw this happen on my campus last spring (I'm a librarian).

Maybe this helps someone 😊I am a student and I have been using the iPad Air 4 for about 8 months. For me personally it was an amazing choice and I would definitely recommend it🥰

Aww, don’t dismiss the mini!! The mini is underrated as heck. I wouldn’t recommend buying now either though unless a person doesn’t care about the outdated design and wants it at a cheaper price, but the ipad mini 6 is supposedly going to get an ipad pro/air-like redesign (+likely a $50-100 price bump) this fall.

The iphone—even a pro max—is no replacement for an ipad mini. Put them side by side, you’ll see the mini has A LOT more screen real estate and a very different aspect ratio. The redesigned mini will have an even bigger screen (8.3” according to Ross Young) cause of reduced bezel size.

The mini is not for everyone, but it is the perfect e-reader size, light and truly portable. Consider people with small hands who would prefer to use an ipad mostly for reading/web browsing and a bit of media consumption when traveling. It’s easier to hold in bed, and it fits into smaller bags. I can’t comfortably hold the bigger ipads with one hand. Add a case on them and they can get a bit heavy too. Also, you can’t use the apple pencil with an iphone.

This is a great guide nonetheless! ☺️ I am just soooo hype for the new mini.

I’m totally being a rebel here and watching this video on an iPad Mini 5 in a cafe. Combined with a third-party keyboard-case combo, I pretty much have a laptop that I can carry about in a small sling bag whenever I’m out and about on the weekend, and need to get some work done (be it educational research for my professional practice as a teacher, stuff for my band, or light photo editing).

(The headphone jack is also a must-have for me and, alas, when I was considering getting a new iPad, the iPad 8 was already sold out on Amazon Japan.)

EDIT

No, I currently don’t use an iPhone. On the smartphone side of things, I’ve always been an Android user.

I recently got an Air 4 to sidecar with my macbook air and until then I was using a mini 5 (love the portability and capability of using apple pencil on the go)

Most students can’t replace their laptops with an ipad yet because of Ipad OS. I think an entry level Macbook Air M1 and a base ipad is a great choice. Especially because the 9 is out and you get 64gb as a base. And they’re both together the cost of a 12.9” Ipad Pro.

Checking the reviews even though I can't afford to buy even one iPad lol. Kinda envious looking at the comments but at the same time, I really enjoyed the video.

Hey! Can you reply to this or do a video comparing different types of screen protectors and which one you find to be the best depending on the purpose? I’ve heard that a paperlike protector is good for writing but it’s bad for the screen, doesn’t protect well and wears down fast the Apple Pencil; on other side, there’s some protectors that doesn’t allow the iPad screen to really show eell. I really like your videos and comparisons, so I’d rely on you for a good ‘protective’ screen protector

Watching the Video on my iPad 8th generation
And I am very happy with my IPad. As my 1st Apple Product. I love it.

This is an amazing video!🤩 I was wondering between iPad Air 256gb and M1 iPad Pro 11 inch 128 gb, which would you recommend if I’m mainly doing digital note taking (I’m planning to use it for 5 years+ for university and work), downloading PDFs and books, streaming and playing some games? Do you think IPad Air battery can still work in 5+ years? Or should I get the iPad Pro 2018/2020 if I want the 120Hz and a slightly better camera over the iPad Air? Please let me know, thanks!😊
