I Beat EVERY Marvel Cinematic Universe Game so you don't have to (MCU)

Marvel, Sega and video games! The MCU is getting old like the PS3. No PS5 games though? You'd think with the Marvel cinematic universe and superheroes being as high grossing as it is that we'd get more video games on them, but that's unfortunately not really the case. Avengers, anyone? But once upon a time, we did. This is about that. A self inflicted retrospective.

VIDEO GAMES ARE OVER. For now at least. Welcome to the longest video I've made so far, it's definitely one of my favorites. Licensed Games? Movie tie-ins? Comic book characters? It's like a trifecta of things that historically don't make good video games! Please enjoy my over 50 minute look into a totally forgotten chapter of both Sega and Marvel.

Also, you like this kinda content? Let me know what other games have wildly different ports, I'm gonna make a lot more of these.

Big issue with getting the real actors to voice act: Just because someone can act well doesn't mean they can voice act well. Not always the case, but it is a different experience being a character and acting as them than it is to stand in a room speaking the same line into a microphone several times until the voice director says you can move on to the next one. That, and big name actors may just phone in their voice roles because they're not getting paid as much as a normal acting role.

"There's never been a video game based on the MCU Avengers."

Lego Avengers: Am I a joke to you?

I do have to say the MCU really did Captain America well and made me care about the character, a character who I always wrote off.

Thor DS is also noteworthy for having an _absurdly_ good soundtrack, unsurprisingly (given it's a WayForward game) done by none other than Jake Kaufman.

Bruce at the end of Incredible Hulk smirks because he's figured out the "Always Angry" never saw it as evil more like he knows what he is now

There was this weird trend in the late 2000s where cross gen games used the last gen version for the pc release, going against the entire concept of the pc. You can still see this today with pc versions not getting next gen features, effectively making them the last gen versions.

Honestly I really enjoyed the Captain America tie in game, the HD one specifically, it was the closest to Batman Arkham combat as it was going to get without being well Batman Arkham and it made me really like the idea of Captain America as a video game, plus the VA for it which had a lot of the cast to reprise their roles from the movie actually did a better job than most Tie In games that get the movie actors to reprise their given roles, still though with Amy Henning's Captain America project being announced as a team up with the Black Panther makes me more excited than ever for Captain America and even characters who never got a game prior to actually get their own games or heck a bigger role in a Marvel game at all, so excited where the future leaves us True Believers with the world of Marvel.

I actually thought The Incredible Hulk movie with Edward Norton was a pretty good movie and highly underrated. I thought Norton did a good job playing the world-weary wanderer aspect of Bruce Banner's character. That being said, I actually do like Mark Ruffalo's performance the best, but Norton did pretty well in his own right.

This is a total side-bar, but there was a line in a conversation between Black Widow and Banner from Avengers: Age of Ultron that I really like. She states (I might end up paraphrasing), "You're the only guy who's afraid to fight because he knows he'll win." I don't remember much about that film, but that moment sticks out for me.

I feel sorry for you and your editor, yet grateful for all the wonderful footage of these games I've never played nor have I ever wanted to. Thanks for another excellent video, remember to pace yourselves, and I'll look forward to the next!

Matt McMuscle popping up unexpectedly got me as excited as an announced superhero pop up on the big screen in the movie of another superhero!

Shout outs to Chris Evans for actually trying in his video game voice role. Apparently it's more than most of the rest of the MCU can be arsed to do.

I remember back in the 2016-2018 time period I thought to myself that Marvel was really kicking up their game in... games.

Telltale Guardians, Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite, and LEGO Avengers & Marvel 2

But it really does seem that after Spider-Man 2018 they really became motivated to go for bigger and prestigious AAA games.

Even if the Avengers game was a failure we still got great Miles Morales and a Guardians game (I haven't played it yet) and we got Spider-Man 2, Wolverine, Captain America & Black Panther, open world Black Panther, and Iron Man coming.

Spidey '18 really motivated Marvel to aim bigger and higher and I really appreciate the game for it.

Didn’t know they had an established comic author so the stories for these; explains the gap between the quality of IM and IM2s campaigns. Glad to see anyone standing up for Im2; played them 360 version and really like it for what it was.

The interesting thing about the THQ avengers game is that there is actually a playable version of it that exists. They gave the writer of the game a build of the game and according to him, it would have been great.

The CELL processor was an absolute beast. It's just most devs were too lazy to actually put the time and effort into working with it. That's why most of PS3s first party titles were amazing, they solely focused on the cell.
