This GTX 1070 is pretty gross! It's been used for several years and looks as though it's never been cleaned. EVGA FTW models, in particular, are quite complex to disassemble, so we'll walk ya through the entire process here. Nothing a little TLC can't fix!

It probably just needs a fresh oil change and a new FPS filter. I usually change my GPU fluid every 6000-10, 000 miles.

Seeing this GPU makes me actually miss having the 1070 as I had almost the same exact one before it died on me back in March, it was the SC instead of FTW model. Amazing GPU even to this day!

Picked up a EVGA 1070 Ti for $150 to replace my mom's 970, I'm currently cleaning it as I watch your video :)

watching your videos...i finally had the courage to clean my first gpu granted it was an old 1050, but just taking it apart cleaning the fans repasting it and putting it back together (and it worked) was awesome :)

I flip pc on the side and I come across a ton of GPUs from miners. For heavily oxidised heatsinks, try scrubbing them with machine oil after regular cleaning. It will not make it shiny like new but it will greatly reduce white oxidised patches. Also, for those living in humid environment, throw in a few packs of silica gel into the rig here and there. It greatly reduces oxidation.

I love seeing part by part breakdowns for cleaning. These videos make me more confident to tackle something that seemed impossible to me merely a year ago. I used to be terrified to open my controller to clean it out or repair it, now I’ve opened and cleaned it several times, made minor repairs, and have even made repairs to my Xbox due to a squeaking noise the fan started making (though I was still a bit scared of bricking my system while doing this)

Thank for this well detailed-step by step video. This has given me more confidence.

LOL, I still have an EVGA 1080 Ti sealed in the box. Put off doing my new build so long, that by the time I did the build the 2080 Ti was out, so I bought it.

I love watching these videos with Greg. It feels more personal and more in depth. Not to say some of the other tech channels i follow aren't but i feel this is a style and topics that some of them don't cover. It refreshing!

Can we talk about this man’s thumbnails, his face is actually normal compared to every other click bait face every YouTuber has nowadays on every video, really loving it!

In that you mentioned it, I'd be interested in a video about replacing thermal pads in graphics cards. Info about firmness and thickness for a given card seem to be tricky to find, so I'd appreciate seeing how you go about it. Always enjoy the deep clean videos.

would have wanted to see temps before and after. but i love watching things taken apart and back together :)

Greg, I always use a very soft bristled brush for cleaning PCB's. Much quicker and also allows greater reach in perspective to reaching down between different components. then a quick blow with air
