Useful info to verify that the external adapter is being used as intended, one way of a troubleshooting an adapter connection issue. I enountered an error before landing on this video which perhaps is the same for the people who disliked the video as they were tyring to find a fix for the adapter rather than understanding the technology as such. Perhaps you should change the title of the video as it is useful but to the "right viewer". Thanks for the video.

What I would like to do is hook the high 2 watt Alfa card up to an external antenna and aim that at a state park lodge a mile away and be able to use their wi-fi. Is a mile range even possible?

I just got mine. There's an insert in the box that says, "Before installing new USB adapter driver, please be sure to uninstall previous wireless adapter drivers on your computer." Does this mean I should uninstall even the factory drivers (Intel & Proset) that the laptop came with that drive the internal wireless card or just any other after-market devices like the Alfa that might have been installed manually?

The official Alfa site is an insult to their customers. Which is why I buy from Rokland. Please apply pressure on Alfa to provide a driver that works across all x64 platforms. As the major US ALFA vendor, your pressure should get them to do the right thing. With one properly-written driver, your support-requests should decrease.
