The MS Office Suite includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. You only reviewed the Word Editor here. What about the Spreadsheet comparison?

You'll want to turn up the video speed too. Like way up.

OnlyOffice: Best dark UI. LibreOffice: lots of functionality.
Can't live without a proper dark theme. For my casual home use, I choose OnlyOffice.

Only office is a great way to get people who are new on Linux to be able to switch off of Microsoft and it helps people get on open source software and if they like that it can support the development of open file format. If they ever want to make the switch to something more open without a paid subscription service the option for libre office is always there.

I like the fact that libre office does not look or feel like Microsoft office - so each to his own.

I wonder what version do you use to compare this two, because LibreOffice 7.x already have a built-in 'Ribbon' in their UI... Also, this review havent touch the question for almost everyone asked: how far will it mess up my format if my old docs from Microsoft Office?
Can we have another video to compare which free Office app that read other office files better? (how they read special features better such as formats, paragraphs, fonts replacement, cliparts, 3D text, etc)

Perhaps not as refined but libreoffice can make the menu look like microsoft. If you are not used to microsoft office libre office have by default the setting to use drop down menues that anybody that have used other applications should feel familiar with. I find the the functionality much more refined in libreoffice as well.
e.g. I pasted a picture in onlyoffice and could not get past it to write under it, it was pushed down the whole time. Perhaps it would be possible but in libre office it was very intuitive, I could just use the arrow keys to get past it and start writing.

It depends how old you are and when you first started using MS Office, and which version you have now. Libre looks very similar to older versions of MS Office, and so will be more familiar to those coming from older versions than Only.

My understanding is also that Only won't edit the older .doc format files, so if like me, you still have many .doc files, you're going to need MS Office or Libre, if only to convert/save .doc files to .docx before editing them in Only.

Like all such choices, it is very subjective. There's really no right or wrong. Best to download both and try both. Most people will quickly gravitate towards using one or the other.

Honestly, every school I've been too literally has all of the stuff to turn in connected to the cloud account the school gives you for free... whether it's Google Docs or Microsoft Office Online...

It saves to the cloud and you can upload your assignment from the cloud...

I have recently decided that I want to move away from Microsoft for privacy concerns. However, the main problem that has stopped me from switching to Linux is MS Office. I have never used any other program, and I am quite fond of it. So now switching over would be very inconvenient. Onlyoffice seems to do a pretty decent job at reducing inconvenience, but what I really don't like is the interface of their desktop client. AFAIK, you can only scale the interface in 100% (which is way too small) and 200% (which is way too large).

Definitely two of prime apps from open source world. I prefer LibreOffice because of better language packs. But they are really close.

I noticed OnlyOffice doesn't recognize contractions. Is there a way to change this?

Which one is best in terms of compatibility with office 365?

Bad and biased comparison.
You got the name of this video wrong as it’s not really a office suite comparison (more like ‘word processing apps comparison’ ) as it only covers the word processing apps.
FYI: You can change the ui to tabbed in Libre Office.

OnlyOffice is way faster opening larger documents and you can have Tabs for different documents.

Sorry, but the UX on LibreOffice is still quite bad and early 2000-ish. If I want people to move away from MS Office I'd never suggest it as a first choice. OnlyOffice stays much closer to MS Office paradigms and whatever you think of that, it will be familiar to most users. And again, often it is also more intuitive. For instance, if I quickly want to change my style settings, I can just change (and see the results) whatever I want in the paragraph and the it takes a single click (sometimes two) to make them the default. In LIbreOffice, however, I need to set everything again in a dialog. The plethora of icons make everything feel very cluttered and intimidating, and it's easy to miss functionality. It's a great piece of software, but it really, REALLY needs a UX overhaul from something who knows what they're doing.
