Izumi is Japanese for fountain so it makes sense that these two dorks would give their daughter a name that's an inside joke between them

That wasn't why Mai broke up with Zuko, she broke up with him because he repeatedly pushed her away instead of confiding in her about his issues. Not just in regards to visiting his dad, but also when Zuko was dealing with how to handle the colonies.

I read the comics myself, and if I remember correctly, Mai and Zuko didn't break up over something so simple. Ever since Zuko became the Fire Lord, he's had a hefty amount of burdens he had to carry. But he thinks, as the Fire Lord, he has to carry all his burdens alone. You can see how extremely stressed he was in the comics. Even though he had a lot of burdens to carry, Mai still wants him to indulge her a bit about it. Saying that she'd help him out however she could. Zuko, being the stubborn guy that he is, refused her help and kept everything to himself. Slowly Zuko created distance between them. Mai got tired and decided to break up.

The reason why Izumi might be Mai's daughter other than the fact that Izumi means fountain, is bc the showrunners (kind of) confirmed it. Although not specifically. They said that a couple that broke up in the comics would later make amends and rekindle their relationship. Since the only couple that broke up in the comics were Mai and Zuko, it'd be safe to assume it was them. But correct me if I'm wrong.

Mai did spend the majority of the final comic trilogy giving Zuko longing looks whilst being overly cheery to Kei Lo, as if trying to convince herself that she wasn't in love with Zuko anymore. So yeah I'd say them getting back together is a certainty.

Still pissed off the comics broke them up in the first place though. Seemed pointless.

They were what 17 at the most when Ozai was dethroned and the comics began? Yeah, their spoiled upbringings would definitely lead to a tumultuous relationship until they hit their early-mid twenties.

If I remember correctly, I believe they confirmed that Zuko and Mai did eventially get back together at a convention panel back around 2017

Ya Izumi means Fountain and those dorks both fell into a fountain as kids so makes sense

It wasn’t the fact that he was visiting his father, it was the fact that he was keeping secrets. A relationship without trust can not stand. This particular situation is something that can be worked on. But a lack of trust is a valid reason to break up with someone.

Ok but I kinda also get why she didn’t want zuko to see his father. She knows that he has issues when it comes to his father that just aren’t healthy. She knows zuko’s father is a manipulative piece of 💩. She also knows that Zuko is the one in power. If it becomes known that he is listening to his father, or even looks like he is, it can undermine everything he ever worked for. She wants him to be a better person. She knows not seeing his father is better for everyone, but especially for zuko. That zuko went behind her back, did it anyway, even probably after they most likely had a conversation about it, well…..yeah it’s not good. Keep in mind, yes this is a family thing, but this is also a nation thing, and she has to do what’s best for, not just herself, not just zuko, but also the nation that zuko rules, and the world they all live in, after a narrow escape from a war that zuko’s father made worse (and instigated to such far worse conditions). So I get her point here. There is way more riding on this and if she can’t trust him now, when the consequences are all so high as is, it’s going to help no one if they stay together. They NEED to be a united front.

It's probably Mai's daughter, but until it's been confirmed I'd like to think Jin got that second date, then a third and a fourth
