When Ozai scowls after getting back up, I can almost hear him thinking, “Iroh! Only Iroh could have taught him that!”

I like how he was able to redirect the lightning which such focus and calm, a sign of his growing maturity and emotional growth, and of course, an increase in his fire bending ability... Uncle Iroh taught him well, in many things

Idk what's sadder about this:

- That Ozai would really kill his son without so much as a second though.

- Or Zuko was ready to redirect lightning because he knows his dad would kill him without so much as a second thought.

A reason why this scene is so well done is because the ability to redirect lightning requires the person to be at peace with themselves, regardless of whether they choose to do good or bad. We saw Zuko already claim to be good before but this time by showing him redirect lightning and walk away from Ozai the writers were able to show he has walked away from being bad and is at peace with himself for doing so.

In spite of his ruthlessness, Ozai truly is a prodigy. Being able to separate the yin yang energy and create lightning THAT quickly.

I think it’s funny that Ozai had to live with the fact that Zuko could’ve put him in the dirt easily here

I’ve always thought it was insanely scary how quick he generated lightning compared to what we had seen before. With Iroh and Azula, it takes them a few seconds of charging it up, but Ozai just shot a double beam almost instantly without hardly having to charge it.

The fact that this is his first time to redirect not just one.. but TWO frickin lightning at lord fire ozai, zuko was so badass!

This whole scene. Zuko literally told Ozai that he's nothing more than a coward.

I like the symbolism behind this scene. It shows how much Zuko had grown and it was thanks to Iroh's teachings, which included mental growth, but also techniques like redirecting lightning, which he now used to rebel against the very one, who lived in his own head ever since he was a kid.

In this moment, Zuko drove home the message: "We are done! I took what you threw at me before, AND NOW I'M GIVING IT BACK!"
