The more I live the more I despise governments. Those that discover treasure are almost ALWAYS stripped of it and granted NOTHING. Unless it's dealt with in a very specific way those that do the work and find the gold will see NONE of it.

Why would you tell anybody that you found anything ? Taxes and theft will be the only outcome !

the Iraq gold wasn't found it stolen, you don't invade a country to find weapons of mass destruction that didn't exist but accidentally find someone else gold during said invasion that you decide to secretly keep

Mel Fisher found most of those wrecks, starting in the 60's! He had leases on almost all of the ocean bottom from the keys north to Jacksonville.

Wow so we can actually look forward to a ship wreck full of treasure being found in the near future. Thats pretty cool.

Reminds me of the story where someone found a whole sword from the dark ages.

How could u not name that emerald the hulk. As for the found money dunno about anyone else but I think that considering the honesty, integrity, respect and kindness just to name a few traits of the "finder" that even the $1+ million "reward " was still very light considering what could have been the outcome and I'm actually surprised that significantly more wasn't offered without the help of lawyers.

Why would the guy with the $100.00 chest give all that back? And how beautiful is the emerald ?
