Human beings love mysteries, and scientists might love mysteries more than anybody else. Whenever they’re confronted by something inexplicable, they use all their skills and training to try to understand and explain it. Often, they succeed. Sometimes, though, they’re left just as baffled and confused as the rest of us. Many archaeological discoveries leave scientists with that frustrated, baffled theory, and we’ve packed some of the very best of them into this video for you!

I wanted to say, when you said that the women of that time didn't have access to mirrors and thus wouldn't know what they look like. Sure, but they had water and water shows reflections. Just pointing it out.

when talking about the hilltop fort in Aberdeen, Scotland, whoever produced this video failed to mention the most interesting thing: All the rocks have somehow been heated and fused together and no one knows how this was done. They tried building a replica of the wall lined with timber, and even after burning for several days, only a few small pieces of stone had been melted. There was a video about this on "The Strange Worlds of Arthur C. Clark". It's probably on line someplace.

Please re-upload this video without the music so I can hear what you're saying.

Anyone who had seen a puddle had access to a mirror and knew what their face looked like.
So many assumptions of ignorance permeate "history"

Why is this called 15 things that science can't still explain when it seems to be explain by the narrator in great detail

''Scientists can't explain"? What's to explain about small pig sculptures, hedgehog beads and ceremonial daggers? These are not scientific mysteries. These are cool archeological discoveries which like ALL archeological discoveries, have questions that remained unanswered.

Even though i found the Topic intriguing, i absolutely can't stand the wimsical funny (tongue & cheek) presentation with the annoying jazzy (silly) music backdrop!! Really ruined the experience for me. Its if i landed on a porn site presentation!

I love archaeological excavations and discoveries. It disproves myths and legends, bringing the story to life whether in America, anywhere on the 7 continents, or in the Bible.

Have more faith in your story telling... You don't need that many Hollywood cut scenes
Just real pictures and facts
Good stuff

@5:00 Why would the exposed portion of the rocks be the large end? (seems a little Bass Ackwards to me)
Wouldn't the exposed portion be subject to the most weathering, and be smaller and more worn than the parts that have have not been exposed to weathering?

There are so many “discoveries” scientists can’t explain. Many of those that have been “explained” have been “explained” very poorly.

Don't they mean "conies"? Rabbits were introduced to England later than these mounds. The rabbit in the video was actually a hare. Longer ears than rabbits and rabbits ears are longer than a Coney. People also used polished boards as mirrors.

Absolutely Wonderful program!!! I congratulate you on a collection of fine antiques, displays, and historical sites! One comment I'd like to make, Please, do not ever think that people "wouldn't have known what their own faces looked like." People have ALWAYS known what their own faces looked like. We have always had water puddles. Reflections are fantastically presented in them. And ponds, pools, and calm river areas, etc..

they say the colossal great pyramid is just too big, too heavy, too advance for our ancestors to build. now they found a tiny pig stone sculpture, still they doubt because the nipple is just too small, too complex work for our ancestors.. tsk tsk..

I'm sure those women back in time, we're smart enough to look into a puddle of water to see what they look like. You don't need a mirror.

🔵 @ 13:31 the narrator says "Women of that
time wouldn't have had access to mirrors so
they wouldn't have known what they look
Actually, Dark-shallow-dishes of water had been used for centuries before mirrors came into being to facilitate being able to see oneself.
