I'm experimenting with Python and Conda in Wslg and so far it's working! Great stuff 👍

I do want to note that if all you want is the Wayland part of WSLg you don't have to get the nVidia driver mentioned in the video. The Wayland socket will still work. It just won't have OpenGL support. With that said stuff like Youtube videos still played perfectly fine and I didn't see a performance drop.

Very cool vid and MS feature IF I hadn't sworn off MS in favor of Linux/Unix types.

SOUNDS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! Sorry about my late comment. Been watching Windows 11 Hype. I will not be moving to W11 until I buy a New Computer, maybe in 12 months time. Plan to run alongside W10 on my Current computer.

I can't wait for this to come in the regular update pool.
Even as a casual PC user who happens to play games, I could have Firefox, KMail, KDE Connect, mpd and stuff inside the WSLg environment while regular Windows stays a gaming beast.
Certainly don't need this for every machine but for the one I play VR games with, this could be amazing.

Next Microsoft will be replacing their File Explorer with some Linux derivate that isn't stuck in 1995.

Fantastic! Normal scrollbars and light theme in Kdenlive!

Fun fact: This was actually Windows 11 (branded as Win10 to avoid spoiling the upcoming win11 announcement)

You know it’s win11 because ALL win10 build numbers begin with a 1. This build as well as current builds of Win11 have build numbers that start with a 2.

Feels like windows is trying to replace use cases for Linux with all this. Linux still definitely has its place no matter what!

@Chris Titus Tech, I know this is an old video, but I just upgraded to Windows 11 final release and wanted to use WSL. It seems as of this time, to get the Nvidia driver, you no longer need to sign up for a developer account to download the driver.

I had to go native Linux on work machine just last week after suffering from horrible performance on VM as WSL wasn't the most friendly for VPN setup. However, this is looking amazing. I hope next year I'll be able to run Windows and Linux GUI apps this way for day to day development.

I like how he pinned the brave browser on the taskbar removing all the windows shit.

I'm on insider, when I updated to wslg I got an issue that it only uses the half of my ram, I have 32gb total and it only shows 16gb in screenfetch and in task manager, I didn't ahve this issue before the update
