Used vehicle shoppers in Canada are more likely than ever to be eyeing up a second-hand SUV. The latest crossover SUVs deliver car-like drive and mileage, along with All-Wheel Drive (AWD) capability, added ride height and ground clearance, and expanded cargo space and flexibility.

The SUV is becoming the go-to means of conveyance for the Canadian family — and if you’re shopping for a second hand unit, you’re probably wondering which are the best to buy. We’re defining ‘best’ in terms of crossover models that deliver strongly on attributes of importance to Canadian shoppers: affordable second-hand pricing, safety, value, feature content. We have combed through data gleaned from industry experts, owner communities, and a network of auto repair professionals that suggests these models will provide a trouble-free ownership experience — provided that shoppers take steps to ensure the vehicle is in sound condition and has been properly serviced and maintained before they buy.

We’re setting a price-cap of $25,000 for the used crossovers discussed in the video, and identifying an estimated price range where you’ll find strong selection on reasonable-mileage units within our recommended model years.

I personally don't recommend the equinox/terrain with the 2.4l. I see them come in all the time for oil consumption issues around 180k km and up. Not to mention, even low mileage, they are pretty loud and rattling engines. The 3.6 is the way to go

I just can't believe that you are recommending chevy, gmc, and volkswagen. They had great product at one time... Not anymore. People stay away from those brands.

Get a Toyota Rav4, Honda CRV and stay away from European brands.

the equinox had a history in early years of bad motors, usually gone by 100.000 km, did they correct this?

A lot of car people would disagree with your pics. A fwd Honda CRV would be an excellant choice. The GMC's were never that great. As for the German pics, both money pits after 5 or so years.

People, If you actually owned the euro or the american cars on this list, shut it. We get it japanses cars will last. But not everyone wants bland or common cars. Yes the euro and american cars may suffer more problems, but can probably run just as long. Don't bash it till you own it.
