The fact that yugoslavia can be explained via a beatles analogy is mental

Fun fact, even if the country is split up now, pljeskavica is still loved all over the balkans, one of my favorite foods personally, highly recommend if you're in serbia, bosnia or romania

I'm from Yugoslavia.
This food still exists and is made by every former Yugoslav territory.

Pljeskavica kinda translates to ... something that is squished flat. It refers to the patty, not any of the other stuff.

Fun fact about Tito, he survived something like 20+ assassination attempts from the Soviets because though he was a socialist and an avid communist he was staunchly against the Soviets.

Next one should be Czechoslovakia so Americans finally know it doesn’t exist anymore

well done man, I know a lot of people will criticise but in home conditions with British produce I think this is a good attempt...Ajvar isn't normally blended but grinded so texture isn't that fine, but I'm sure it tastes great...approved by me made in yugoslavia 😂

I took a taxi a couple months back in Sweden. The taxi driver wasn't very talkative, i noticed his accent and asked where he was from. He said Serbia and i immediately proceeded to sing "Po Summama i Gorama" since i love yugoslavic music. After that he didn't want to stop talking with me. "I sang that song at school when i was a child!" he told me excitedly. I asked him if he miss Yugoslavia and then he got serious and told me bluntly "yes, everybody does. Since Tito died EVERYTHING has gone to hell! We hate and kill eachother for no reason. Tito knew how to keep peace."

It was a nice conversation and a nice feeling to turn a stale car ride into an exciting exchange of cultures and stories.

Okay but huge props to whichever farmer managed to grow an onion with a copy of Shrek the third for DS in it. Very impressive

Man, i have pljeskavica every week at local kafana, and according to analogy with beatles, your looks like Lenon’s brains are mixed with Yoko’s art and bread.

If you haven't had ajvar you really should try it. If you don't want to commit to making it from scratch, you can buy it jarred from the supermarket. It's versatile enough that you can put it in sandwiches or pasta or eat it like a dip. And it's not terribly unhealthy like a lot of spreads and dips. You're gonna be hooked on this stuff, it's pure flavour.

My father hails from Slovenia, Yugoslavia. He grew up witnessing visits from both American and German soldiers to his family home at various points during the war. One notable contrast was that the American soldiers were often laughing out loud and cracking jokes, whereas the Germans remained dead silent, solely conducting searches. All that could be heard from them were the loud footsteps of their boots.

My mother was born in Croatia when it was still a part of yugoslavia, she flew out of the country alone when she was only 19 when the war in yugoslavia broke out.

One of my great grandmothers was from Yugoslavia, though she grew up in Austria and moved to the US before WW2. I still make one of her old recipes every christmas, I even have the same century old bowl she used

This is a GREAT series and idea.
Im sure many people would smile seeing you teach others about their countries and cultures lost to time.
Please do more of these!
Maybe even do countries that are CURRENTLY running the risk of being forgotten
Thank you
