“Dance battles aren’t a thing in ballet”
THEY SHOULD BE.

Now that we've seen Leap, the real question is has Josephine seen the entire Barbie Ballet Cinematic Universe because like my childhood was watching the Nutcracker and then getting to discover the various barbie ballets that just made ballet so beautiful to me as a young person who would never have seen a ballet otherwise

Its called Ballerina in England! I loved the idea of this movie but it is just so ridiculous, wonderfully silly 🩰 and the fact she never had pointe shoes on in this, just her regular shoes makes it even funnier 😂

As a non dancer, my issue with Leap, is it seems like it takes place in like. A week or two. Which I know is impossible to master that level of dancing after starting from "I like dancing but I've never trained" as she is in the beginning of the film

I’ve always been mad that the biggest moment in Leap isn’t physically possible and that move does not exist
I’m so glad you did this video lol

I remember back then when I first watched the movie in the cinema, I was mesmerized because they looked so cool, doing ballet (obviously better) like me and also being about the same age. But now that I'm seeing that particular scene again together with Josephine's accurate expressions, I realize how extra and unrealistic it was.
Still a good movie tho. Very inspirational (not just because I think that we should invent dance battles in ballet).

My favorite and close to accurate part is where she is trying to touch the bell without making ripples in the water. It is very hard. During ballet we would spend a large portion of each class just jumping up and down trying not to sound like a herd of elephants jumping but to be as silent as possible. I haven't been in dance for a few years but even now I can't jump and make a sound with my feet, no matter how hard I try. Also I'm sneaky because between ballet and marching band I learned how to walk silently, gracefully, and quickly.

I always hated the mean girl ballerina angle too. Even in competitive situations the other dancers I met were always so sweet and nice. I maybe had 1 negative experience with another dancer in my 20+ years of competing.

I loved this movie when I was younger 😂 totally unrealistic but was definitely fun to watch. Much love ❤️

I really like this movie, also, the mean girl is overused and cliché but it's very relatable, especially in such an elitist sport as ballet, I experienced it firsthand and I'm sure many others did too.

I watched a few clips of this on youtube. I realize it was made for little girls and is definitely enchanting in that way. But I found it so cringy!. Anyway loved your reaction! And I agree, we need more stories with real dancers working with real challenges, not the prototypical mean girl who just "gets in the way."

I highly recommend reacting to some of the scenes in the anime Princess Tutu! It's from 2002 and is based on classical fairy tales and ballet, and it's absolutely gorgeous. There's a scene in especially episode 13 where the protagonist does a solo pas de deux that has stuck with me since I was little. There's also scenes here and there with actual ballet classes which are so nice, if short

For everyone who is outside the US, the title of the movie is Ballerina. 🤸‍♀️😸 Although I think since it is an animated movie they could have made the main character less stick thin and white 😸
