How to Backup and Restore your Samsung Smartphone (Contacts, Messages, Settings, etc)

In this video, I am going to show you how to backup and restore your Samsung Smartphone. All Samsung smartphones such as the Galaxy S10, S9, S8, Note 9, and Note 8 have the same built-in method for backing them up.

Each backup backs up phone call logs, contacts, messages, settings, home screen settings, and more. It basically backs up a replica of your smartphone so if you ever lose your phone or damage it, you can restore everything and move on.

I used to search Google when I needed to find something out about my Android. Now I just come to your channel and 99.9% of the time can find what I need. Thanks!

Great info. My phone recently died and I didn't back it up. So, I've spent endless hours trying to recapture some of the data. Having watched this video, I backed up everything!

The apps are restored but how do you restore the content of the apps? For example, I use video editing apps that save the edited files within the apps or to the internal storage of my phone. My phone got fried so I'm trying to get all the content, and all I get are reloaded empty apps. Can you comment, whether for a save this time, or a save next? Thank you

I have a future video suggestion. My desktop is an iMac. My new phone is a Galaxy S9+. What is the best way for Mac desktop/laptop users to get their iTunes music library synched up or onto their Android phone? Would love to see what you recommend both how to do it manually and how to do it with software/sync somehow if possible. Thank you.

Will this also backup all folders and left over files that were from apps, no longer installed on the device? I have so many garbage folders and random files on my device that I can't really tell what can be deleted, etc. If this does indeed backup those files, what is the best solution to remove these items before restoring the device?

How about if I want to restore my photos (from S20) since I did a factory setting? How do I restore those photos?

Is there anyway I can restore photos from specifis dates only? Let's say photos taken (on my s20) from April to May only? Is there an option for that?

This was helpful, thanks. One thing that doesn't get addressed in the backups is photos. Can you tell me how to backup the photos? Thanks

Hi, thanks for this video! do you know if this method also works if I buy a phone from a different brand (eg. if I go from Samsung to LG or Nokia etc) and/or different operating system (eg. from Android to iOS)? Right now I have a Samsung phone and I am going to use your tips to back it up. However, I was wondering what will happen in case my next phone is not a Samsung. Any idea? Many thanks

Looks like good information. I have a question, when following your instructions I got a notification saying, “What we can’t back up” which included Messages, Contacts, Calendar, Settings, Homescreen and some apps. Why would this be and how can I backup everything?

Thank you SO MUCH!! Every tech store I've been to to ask how to do this only ever tells me smart switch and I spend months trying to get my phone back to how I like it. I just switched mine over and it was painless and worked like a charm!
