So you’re 17 years old and want to get insured on a fast car? Though I might suggest you consider just buying an old banger for the right of passage into faster cars, if you’re willing to spend £3k on the car then these 5 cars will pack some significant speed, despite having insurance quotes at less than the average amount paid by 17 year olds.

In this video I walk you through the 5 cars I have found to offer cheap insurance, while having decent 0-60 times, and some other pretty cool features too. All cars on this list will cost you less than £5,000 all in, in terms of insurance, tax and purchasing the car. Not bad at all considering some of the specs you’

But seriously, for those of you not looking to spend 3k, find a nice old banger, rag it around for fun, and you honestly won’t regret it. This video has been held back for 2 reasons: 1, it was really hard to do the research, and 2, I think it’s great for everyone to start in a banger!

Apologies if I sound a bit weird, had an awful cold this week but wanted to get a video out regardless – so you’ll have to deal with a slightly huskier voice than normal. Hopefully be better by next week.

As always, thanks for all the support – hopefully many more exciting things to come, and potentially a new series in the next couple of weeks! Basically whenever I back myself to make a video in a different format. PPP content also planned for the near future…

Shout out to everyone supporting the channel – you guys are the reason why I stay up until 4am to get these videos done on time, and still get up at 7 to go to work.

Remember to like and subscribe if you haven’t already – it helps me to know how decent the videos are and whether I need to change them!

Thanks very much for watching!

Cars that feature in this video:
- Alfa Romeo MiTo
- Mini Hatch One
- SEAT Ibiza Sport
- Suzuki Swift GLX
- Fiat Punto Evo Sporting

Link I promised would be in the description (full details of insurance policy):

Links:

Music:
Background: My (musically gifted) sister
Outro: Ship Wrek & Zookeepers - Ark [NCS Release]

Links/attribution will now be done as google docs, just because I have too many to fit into the description:

Still no one got my last week pin challenge… same challenge again this week. What town am I driving through in my Polo at the start of the video? First correct answer will be pinned.

Gotta say, I really appreciate how much time would have been put into this. Thanks man, I'm 19 and learning but costs are piling up so this is so helpful

I’m 18 and have a 2007 Honda jazz. I have a Honda jazz as it’s quick, practical and good looking as well as reliable . My insurance was £800 after I passed and this is without a black box. All my friends with newer cars such as Corsas and fiestas have black boxes with premiums of £1400-1800 as well as less power so if you are 17 and looking for cheap insurance I would highly recommend it.

I’d rather drive a Daewoo Matiz without a black box than an Audi s3 with a black box

I've got a black box and I drive pretty fast, not dangerous but definitely not like an old woman and I get emails from my insurance saying I've got 'gold standard driving'. So I'm pretty sure that the boxes really don't do much they're more of a deterrent to scare people into driving responsibly.

I’m 21 and have an Ignis Sport.

That should be on your list regarding best first cars.

They’re fast (1.5 VVT-I), reliable and due to their rarity I doubt you’ll find many young drivers with one.

Recaro fishnets and Enkies 15” alloys, from standard, 115bhp and 950/960Kgs..

I just bought my first car 2 months ago, Skoda Citigo Colour Edition. Far from fast but extremely cheap to run and uses so little fuel, drives amazingly well. £1280 for insurance although I added legal protection so £1300 in total, road tax was only £20

My first car was a Honda ep2 sport, cost £1800, and £1200 to insure. Got 118 BHP, 0 to 60 in around 7.5 secs with some weight reduction. Plus independent rear suspension so best handling ever.

My first car was a SEAT Ibiza FR and it lasted 3 years, reached 110, 000k miles and was an amazing car, regular services & MOTs were the only extra costs. My second car was an Alfa Romeo MiTo Veloce and it was a lovely car but was super problematic, regular issues and electrical problems. After that I had a Fiat Punto Evo Sporting and that was super fun, however due to the depreciation of the vehicle, it was eventually written off when someone drove into the back of it. I now own a SEAT Ibiza FR Sport 2019 and it's safe to say, SEATS are one of the best cars for price and reliability, as they are basically a Volkswagen Polo. Definitely recommend the SEAT Ibiza!

For fun I put a early 2000s Suzuki jimmy in compare the market, I got the cheapest price I’ve ever seen for comprehensive insurance for an 18 year old male in wales, it was £980...
probably the least street cred you could ever imagine but I bet you could have some fun in one

9:33 Q: "How can you drop dirty bangers in your car with just a CD player?" A: "Just get an FM transmitter with bluetooth for a tenner off eBay" There's literally one in the corner of the screen at that point as well XD

My first year is £980 on a 1.2 corsa d sxi 2007, I find getting a rough idea off comparisons sites then calling companies direct is better. I use Hastings smart miles, they are great, i rag my car around, red line it, handbrake turns, maccies drive throughs, the usuall corsa stuff. Everyone says they are bad, no they are not, i speed but usually drive the speed limit my speeding score is 70, acceleration is 100, the only thing is my braking - 22. Its only your overall score that matters, mine is 71. Its only for a year so its worth it.

I’ve have and still have a seat Ibiza sport 1.6, my insurance started at £1466, and has now decreased to £987. Without a black box. I have added a few mods and now pushes around 145bhp, 0-60 in 9.8 seconds. I would highly recommend this vehicle, especially with amount of mods you can get.
